As long as the capacitor's right below the AGP slot and the Northbridge fan are under 1 inch tall, it will fit. I looked in the manual and only saw pics of the board from above, but it looks like they are short enough.

Do you think using some AS3 instead of the supplied thermal grease would drop temps a few degrees?

Great article, by the way. That's the exact cooler I've been looking at to put on my 9600 (as soon as I actually get it, that is).

No, I checked the benchmarks on the Zalman Thermal Grease prior to applying it and it is within 1C of ASIII (and a hell of a lot cheaper).

Thanx BA,
That looks like the cooler for my 97pro,
I just got some of that ArcticSilver "CERAMIQUE" hella cheaper,
got the shim off of the GPU for a flush fit, 'll letcha know how it works.
...I'll need to remove the northbridge fan and then use the 12cm
fan from the side to cool them both. Way more CFM and that couldn't hurt!

Scape,
Not at all, I used a exacto blade under one corner, then just work your way down a little, prying a little upwards. Go to the next corner same thing. It will suddenly "pop" loose
I then took some MEK and a q-tip and cleaned the adhesive off.
piece of cake ,just try not to think of the $300.+ if you slip. LOL

Would you still need to attach the aux power to Radeon cards if you take the fan off?

Yes, the Radeon cards will still need a direct connection to the PSU. I know mine won't boot without the power connected.
