Default Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Cooler

BigAkita has a new review up on Zalman's latest cooling phenom, the CNPS9500 LED. Thought the Asetek Vapochill Micro was good? Wait till you see this cooler.

Check it out here.

Even more reason to want one now, I sure hope they pick up on that Socket A mounting hardware suggestion before I am able to get a 64bit rig. Then it will be compatible with both.
Nice job BA!

I had checked this cooler out for possible use in the Case For Hope project. The one thing that held me back was the blue lights. Why do most things come with the blue lights? Can't they at least give an option of some sort?

Excellent cooler though, but that is what you expect from Zallman. Great review BA.

Because they look nice and pretty? It looks better than red or orange, Im guessing our eyes are most sensitive to it.

I have this feeling that the reason so many coolers that come with LEDs installed use blue coolers as a psychological trick... Blue, for most people is generally associated with water, cool, etc. Thus, IMO, blue LEDs would indicate a HSF/cooling item that cools better than others... Red or orange would tend to give the impression that it runs hot, etc... But that's just me, I guess...

Thanks for reading, I would like to thank Zalman for providing this heatsink to us for review.

Great review, BA. Oh, wait, there was more?

Seem like some nice temps without sacrificing your eardrums in the process... For anyone out there wondering if their motherboard will be compatible, here's the link to the Zalman website and the compatibility lists for the 9500:

Intel(775),

Intel (478) and

AMD(754-939-940).

Sweet, i was wondering when we'd have a review of this up. I've read a bunch of pre-release sample reviews, but they had issues with the heatpipes, and it seems they havn't done anything about the finish on the base.

BA is right, Zalman would make money if they made a clip for AXP systems, I know I'd put my money into this if I could use it.

Yeah, I had set it on there for pic on my professional photographer's studio table (cardboard box). Since it's on an open bench system right now, and the system is off to my right, I ended up mounting it like that so I can glance to my right and mutter "Bloooooooo..."

If they made a Fatal1ty version of that beast- I'd be first in line.

As it is right now, the fan is the limiting factor in it, and I hate blue leds.
(If it was a very dark blue, it would be fine.)
But until then, I have a nice Gizmo imitation in reaction to them.

I've got one of these on an athlon 64 4000 on a DFI lanparty sli-dr, and its fantastic. It's pretty much silent when running idle, the chipset fan makes more noise.

As with just about any LED, an enterprising person could switch them out with whatever color they wanted.

Also shouldn't be too hard to put a more powerful fan in it since it's a standard size

sounds like somebody should make their own Fatal1ty 9500

Hmm. I'd say about $90-$110 for a Fatal1ty version of it beachbum86.

One of the reasons I'd like a Fatal1ty version is the anodized red copper.
Although I'd probably change out the fan on it and keep the leds.

A Delta GHE carefully coated in eDead dampening paint,
lovingly sanded and given a gold metallic paint and clear coat. (Now that's lethal!
Of course, I would have to find a butch fan controller
[One that can take 16.20 watts thanks to the 1.35 amps on that beast] or make one myself.
{In which case $SOLID$ Necro would be the one to I'd ask for advice- as he's the master of ludicrous speed)

Is a nice and great cooler indeed, if I hadn't my 7700cu, I certainly would have gone getting this one.

BTW; I once saw an article of someone who changed its 7700alcu's fan with a blue led fan of a death PSU. So it is possible to do.
If I could do it, I maybe would have, but then again, I can't do it.
