I would only recommend it to those I don't like.

Guys, is it just me or does the hybrid look like the AMD retail with a copper chunk put in the bottom of it?

Yeah, that HS sucked. But it is supposed to be AMD approved. Go figure...

AMD approved... because it once was the retail sink?

Ya know, I've seen a few reviews on these OCZ heatsinks and I can't help but notice that they look exactly like Dynatron heatsinks (which I believe are the suppliers for AMD's Retail heatsinks). In fact I actually (seem to) have both of these heatsinks that were reviewed here with the exception of the fact that the OCZ Gladiator II has a larger, high RPM, high CFM fan on it. My pure copper Dynatron has a standard (green) 60mm fan on it.

Here are a few pictures of the heatsinks I have (both are Dynatron branded)......

As you can see, they are both almost identical visually. The only differences are, one is pure copper (due... of course), the pure copper on is about 4mm taller and the base design is slightly different on the pure copper version. Also as you can see, the pure copper version has a better finish on the base (I didn't modify the bases at all. That's the way they came.)

And here's the performance I get from them...

Test system,
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2GHz T' Bred)
1GB PC2100 DDR RAM
MSI KT3 Ultra motherboard (VIA KT333 Chipset)
Abit GeForce 4 Ti4200 video card (64MB version)

The program I used to put the CPU under load was United Devices' "UD Agent". It's a program similar to Folding@home but it crunches data to help find a cure for cancer. The program is capable of putting the CPU under 100% load (according to Task Manager) and this is confirmed by the temps. (They really go up when the UD Agent is running.)

(All temps were using the onboard MSI temp probe that was read using MotherBoard Monitor 5.)

Dynatron DC1206BM-L/610-P-CU (Aluminum/Copper)
Dimensions = 61.9 x 63 x 36.2(mm)
Fan = 60 x x60 x 10(mm) / 5300RPM / 25CFM
Load = 39C
Idle = 33C

Dynatron (Pure Copper) (**Please see note below about model number)
Dimensions = 61 x 64 x 40(mm)
Fan = 60 x x60 x 10(mm) / 5300RPM / 25CFM
Load = 37C
Idle = 32C

One thing to note: I can't give you a room temp because the room I'm in doesn't have a thermostat in it and I don't have any other way of measuring the temp. But I can tell you that it is currently 39F (that's Fahrenheit) outside and I have my windows open. So it can't be more than 5 ~ 10 degrees higher in this room. So this room is quite chilly at the moment and that's (probably) why I'm getting such good temps. During the day time hours the temp in this room really goes up and so the temps of my computer(s) really go up too.

So there you have it, my mini review of the Dynatron heatsinks that I believe are the exact same heatsinks in this OCZ review (almost exact same). :p

(** I don't remember the exact model number of the pure copper version so that's why I didn't give it. I bought it from Monarch Computer a few months ago and apparently they have since discontinued selling it because I can find it on their site anywhere. I also tried finding it on the net elsewhere to no avail.)
