Default Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 Fan

HoJo has a new review on a sharp little fan from a relatively unkown company, Sharkoon (http://www.sharkoon.com). This new fan design implements dimples in the fan blades similar to a golf ball which is supposed to reduce fan noise.

Check it out here.

Ah...the old 12 volt battery and candle test. Ingenious Hojo, that's thinking outside the box. Interesting design.

Short and to the point HoJo! These fans show some real promise I think. And as AntiM said thinking outside the box on the testing methods, just like the people at Sharkoon for putting dimples in the fan to start with. Innovation is always nice to see, especially in an everyday product!

Seems interesting. My thoughts really have always been, a fan is a fan. Allthough I do use dual BB Vantec Stealths in my PC. My fav.

Good Review.

Nice review, however...

22 CFM WHAT!?! Just about any quality fan can make very low noise at 22CFM. If this company would apply their 'technology' to some fans pushing 40CFM+ where it actually counts, then they'd have something. Something to compete with Panaflo and the like, not something that is low performance and low noise....that's just expected. We all want high performance with the lowest DBA possible, and that golf ball texture just might do the trick on high speed fans.

I agree Kage. I would like to see this technology applied too 92 and 120 mm fans as well as fans that run at higher speed.

As far as the candle test I can't take the credit for that. A little dog told me about that.

Interesting idea indeed, I too hope they eventually make a 120mm version in different colors.
Nice job HoJo.

well, this fan looks nice, but i already read some articles about it ...

"Not very many use any kind of innovative design that affects noise or air flow. The people at
Sharkoon have come up with an idea they claim results in better air flow with less noise than conventional fans of the same size and rotational speed. They have molded the fan blades with dimples similar to those found on a golf ball which is supposed to reduce air resistance and turbulence."

the performance doesn't get any better by these dimples.
it is just a design-based-marketing-strategy
