Default Lian-Li PC-767 BTX Case

BigAkita has a new review up on a brand spankin' new case to hit the market from Lian-Li. The PC-767 is Lian-Li's latest BTX offering which didn't seem to impress BA all that much.

Check it out here.

BigAkita gets all the toys!!!! I always thought Lian Li always had good case designs that were very well thought out.

Getting this Lian-Li PC-767 case somehow reminds me of my youth when I'd pick a chick up at a bar after knocking back a few. She looks good on the outside, but once you start to undress her you sober up a bit and realize that you may have been fooled by outside looks but still think, what the hell. Then when you start to get intimate her, the teeth fall out, her wig falls off, and she pukes on you. Then when you go to clean up she steals your wallet. The wallet is gone because this baby is expensive.

Thats one way to look at a bad case...ROFL!

The bold is a grammer error (I think)...should'nt there be a "with her"

Anywhoo, keep up the great reviews BA!

After the last case review this one was a shock. It really does not seem to be up to par with the standard they have been setting with the Lian Li cases.

As always though a very thorough review BA.

Well, it does look like a great water-coooling case though....I mean with all that room...........

Absolutely, Highperf. If I were looking for a case with lots and lots of room for water gear, I would sure look seriously at the PC-767. Then again, for about the same price I could get a giant server case or a big cube case.

Gah!!! I am trying sooo hard to finish reading this review, but Communist (Comcast) is giving me fits AGAIN!
Speeds are slower than 9600 baud even, not even close to the 4.4M I am SUPPOSED to be getting.

Thanks BA for a forthrite evaluation of a respected company's product.

While there is room for H20 in the PC-767, I will stand by my Lian Li PC-V2000.
Cost as well as size is a factor that all must consider when building a new rig.

You know that saying that "it might have looked good on paper, but it doesn't look it in person"? well this doesn't look like it would even be good on paper. This looks as though someone took a bad idea and said hey lets sell it through a reputable company in order to make loads in profit, except I don't know that many people who'd shell out to get a case like this. I've looked toward Lian-li to provide futuristic and forward thinking case designs for the past 4 years...this is like a 2 year step backwards.

Lets just put it this way:
Hopefully this is a bootleg and both Hampton Technologies and BA got duped into thinking it was the real thing....
no matter how far from the truth I know that is.

I like the diseased hooker analogy. It's kinda the way I feel about my Lian-Li V1000B. Only, instead of being great for water and poor for air, the V1000B is great for air and poor for water.

I kinda dig the looks though.

You know I would love to get my hands on one of these to watercool with...The case has room galore..I can't help but notice that the motherboard in there looks like you installed a micro-atx when in fact its full size.
I think the answer to your question on the motherboard tray versus the back plate is simple.

BTX standard requires a thermal backing plate be installed with the BTX heat sink...The heatsink in a BTX form factor case is massive and very heavy. The backing plate is intended to relieve some ot the weight on the motherboard. This backing plate would require removal of the back plate to get it installed properly. My guess is that they didn't make the motherboard removeable as this wasn't the premium or deluxe model. SImilar to the PC6 vsr PC60 series. They are essentially the same case with the motherboard tray riveted in place in the PC6 and removeable in the PC60. . Lian-Li has always thought that removing your motherboard tray was a DELUXE option...
Sad when you consider the cost involved in their cases.
BA is right to point out this oversight on this model. All the effort for the trim that doesn't fit....whats a few more rivets and such to remove the tray?

I think as a standard case this thing is deffinately a bad deal.
But for a watercooling case...this thing is BOMBDIGGITY!!!

A good water cooling case? Guys your nuts, for 260 bucks this case should be a good everything case!

It should cool itself, or allow for sub zero temps! (I see your points, but that price is way to high)

BTX? How is it a BTX case? You installed an ATX motherboard in it.

It's a BTX style case where the mobo is on the otherside and is flipped according to BTX design........

Okay, BTX "style" I'd go for. But it is not a BTX case. You would not be able to install a BTX motherboard in it. Sure, BTX cases have the motherboard on the other side such as this case. But they are right side up when on that side as the expansion slots are opposite to ATX mothboards.

As was said already...
It's a hybrid case...Meaning it can do both....

WIth some optional parts of course...
Hence the removable back panel.
