Post Interview with Kris Kringle, gaming Santa

Interview with Kris Kringle, gaming Santa

Some of you may be shocked to find the big elf himself loves gaming! Yes, the man who visits all the good boys and girls on Christmas, has the mega gaming rig of the North Pole. What a great time of year to catch an interview with Santa before his busy day.

1.How did you get into gaming Santa? What is your favorite game you are playing now?

I got into gaming when I finally got the internet at my luxury Caribbean holiday beach resort. Mrs Claus was surprisingly strict on computers and the internet until she realised she could buy new shoes on the internet! Right now I’m playing Battlefield 2, City of Heroes and Call of Duty 2. I’m looking into joining one of those squad clan thingies; is it true clan matches slow down at this time of year?

Santa getting his game on:

2.Your North Pole LAN’s, called ' The Showdown in HoTown', with the elves are infamous. Can you tell us a bit about them? Who comes to play? What are the game favorites?

Ahhhh the LAN’s… low ping fun for everyone! I’ve got a few “A” List Celeb friends who bring these funny bags of white powder with them. They tell me it’s custard powder to have with the mince pies, and what great custard it makes!! The outsiders are required to where Santa costumes so I can play in peace, plus it gets everyone in a festive mood.

The elves make great computer technicians and set up everything for my friends. Sometimes I let just the elves play a little F.E.A.R. deathmatch to keep them happy. Last year when Bill Gates came for the LAN he brought a brand new laptop for Christmas… the elves were pretty fascinated with the tiny size.

3.Can you give us your PC specs? Do you ever catch the elves trying to use your monster rig?

The computer I have for gaming is Intel 945 chipset and a Pentium D 820 CPU (Dual core 2.8 GHz CPU), with a X800 GTO2 Limited Edition 256MB PCIe, Corsair DDR2 PC2-5400 Pro 1GB Kit, 1 terabit HD, from there it has fast whistler thingy with bells and multi coloured wassits. It came with a pre-release of Windows Longhorn… which I got one of the elves to do a reformat thingamajig and put Windows XP Pro on it. The elves are allowed to use my computer in groups so they supervise each other!

4.Does Mrs. Claus mind you gaming? Does she game too?

Mrs. Claus doesn’t really mind what I do with my free time as long as I work the elves hard! She does, however, frown upon the downloading of “illegal” applications and entertainment. I asked for her to get me an iPOD this Christmas, that didn’t go down too well. Thankfully Rudolph didn’t mind me sharing his stable for a few nights! I’m trying to get her into gaming a little more so I can kick her phat behind Counter Strike Source!

5.What kinds of games do you prefer? FPS, RPG, MMOG, etc?

I’m not fussy as to which type of games I play actually, as long as it passes the time. It’s my “alone time”, so as long as the games make me forget about driving that damn sleigh… I mean preparing to make everyone’s Christmas’s magical! I’ve already mentioned the Football Management Simulation Championship Manager, and heard great things about some MMOGs, City of Villians in particular!

6.When boys and girls ask for games you know are no good, do you still deliver them?

It’s not my job to tell people that they’re asking for s!#@. So I just bring what they ask for! A few of the publishing companies have given me special deals, so sometimes I substitute one game for another and put a little note inside blaming it on the elves .

7.What do you think is the best game to come out this year? Why?

I’m a big fan of Quake 4 actually! Need for Speed Most Wanted looks great, and I can’t wait to grab my stocking and see if it’s inside! One of the elves said the new Sims game was great and I should mention it… I just laughed!!

8.In this day and time with all the technology available, why do you still use a sleigh and 8 reindeer?

I still use the sleigh because I update it every year with the latest gizmos! Foot warmers and a kickin' Bose stereo system added last year. Coffee machine was added a few years ago, and I made the mistake of putting whiskey in instead of coffee…. We all learn from our mistakes! I use the reindeer because I can’t afford to pension them off! Besides they still do a great job.

9.Is it really true your so jolly cause you know where all the bad girls live?

I leave the bad girls alone… I have Mrs C.. She’s more than a handful in that French maids outfit. Wait. I think I’ve said too much.

The Mrs.:

Well, maybe now we know why Santa always has a smile on his face! Why gaming of course!

Happy and Safe Holidays to all!

ROFL...Foe, that was an absolutely brilliant interview with Santa! I had no idea that the old coot was so cool. Especially since the out of court settlement in grandma's wrongful death lawsuit. I really wish we had known about the "custard powder" while we were still in litigation, that might have swayed the court ...well, technically, i am bound by a gag-order, so i guess i really can't talk about that.
I mean, really, who knew that the toon running around and asking for influence in CoH actually was Santa. Heck, i sort of feel bad for publicly mocking him about the "GenericHero1234" title (i guess the CoH GMs decided that "Santa Claws" - a Claws/Regen Scrapper - was too risky from a copyright perspective). Next time i see him in game, i might just break off a hunk of influence for the jolly grandma killer...but no matter how much he pleads, i AM NOT going to power-level him (sheesh, ya gotta draw the line somewhere). Who knows, maybe a few million influence will be enough to ensure that i don't get a stocking full of coal with a note that says "you could be next" this year.
