Dear Glitterkill,
On your Ahanix EX110 case review, you talked about thumbscrews... Is it possible to add thumbscrews anyway, like after market?

There used to be a review for the dBox case also by Ahanix... Where'd that review go?

Thanks,
"sara24"

Sara,

Thumbscrews can be found at any online mod supply retailer. They come in a multitude of colours and are most often aniodized aluminum. They are ridiculously expensive!

I have found the best option for thunmbscrews are a black finished screw sod by Startech. Much cheaper, and very usefull! I even have all my PCI cards secured with the thumb screws!

http://www.startech.com/ststore/item...ar=topbarp.htm

I found mine locally, and I think they were more like $15 or $20 CDN.

Here is the link to the DBox review:

By the way, very nice to see you back! I trust all is well?

Wow Tekxoid you're right! I haven't looked at them in a long while.

As you well know, about a year ago people where charging $1-2 bucks a screw. Nice to see prices have come down a bunch .......it is actually true of most mod supplies.

I bought the Ahanix EX110 based off the review and it is a very nice case. Yes, you can add thumbscrews. I got gold ones from frozencpu.com. It is some tough metal to dremel, but I think I used 4 heavy duty discs to get through a window and blow hole. One thing to note, I have a standard toggle switch for the blue cathode light (black round rocker switch) and I put that in the front door by the firewire port, but I had to take the door off because it wouldn't close with that switch in there...didn't think of that until after I had the hole drilled. Very nice case and worth the price.

Dear Putwig, I guess I remain
Hi! I have posted some information on the Patriotic Case project which was a fantastic idea and really shows our support for our troops. This would be about the double heart bypass I had in March of this year.

Can somebody please make me a smiley I can use and/or a sig that's either like the Tin Man getting his heart or a male surgeon with glasses on holding a human heart in his hand, dripping blood, or something?

I'm doing okay for the most part, but I have the usual problems with my stomach/digestive track. Unfortunately, my husband was recently diagnosed with Diabetes, but it is being controlled with the little pills and diet and exercise. He's doing better in that regard. We both have this now and I can't seem to overcome my sweet tooth.

I guess I was misunderstood, I mean if you've got like the regular pain in the _ _ _ screws how do you change them out for the thumbscrews?

Thanks,
"sara24"

I am my computer's user, nothing more nothing less.
I don't know nothing about no building of no computers - I leave that to the experts! A modification from Gone With the Wind. I've got some nifty pictures of how we were really almost Gone With the Wind if anyone cares to see that?

Thumbscrews use the same size thread as the normal philips screwdrivers screws...the only difference is they have the head to twist them out with your thumb. All you have to do is subsitute the screws. This is only for case screws, you'll have to buy a different size thumb screw for the PCI slots.

Dear GMoney,
Thanks! I was hoping it would be an easy answer like that. I don't have a dremel yet. I tried to ask my Dad to send me one for Christmas several years ago but he wouldn't do it.

You can get a great Dremel set at Wal-Mart for around $55 that includes all kinds of discs, buffers, grinders, etc. Buy the DREMEL brand with the 35,000 RPM top speed...you'll need it.

Thanks GMoney! The closer of two Walmarts to our location is 40 miles one way. The other one, which we'll probably be visiting on the 28th of this month, yet no hope of buying any thing as we'll be lucky to have gasoline to make the journey - one of my doctors is located in Sierra Vista where this one is- is 80 miles one direction - not quite as far away as Tucson but might as well be. I like to do shopping at Walmart, but never enough money. I like to buy packages of blank CDR's and packages of blank CDR labels there best of all.
