The 100 ohm potentiometer adjusts contrast of the letters on the display, 10 k ohm potentiometer adjusts the backlight brightness.

Shouldnt that be the other way around

And if you can live with not being able to adjust the light just put in a diode instead of the 100 Ohm Pot (I think its a 4.5v led array in there) better safe then sorry

Heres a neat program that can quickly test your LCD

25 pin connector is a parallel port. molex connectors red=5V, yellow = 12v and blacks=grounds... not sure what voltage you are looking for.....

ok, do I plug the parallel connector to the parallel port on the back of my computer? Becuase I can't printer is connected.

I still don't know where the molex connector connects to, with regards to this mod...

you could get a splitter for the port if you want, or some let you daisy-chain. you can also buy seriel port LCDs if the parallelport is unavailable.

as for the molex, a more detailed question will get a more detailed answer., otherwise i'm taking shots in the dark here.. if you are talking about one that is connected to the LCD then you will need to buy/build a splitter and put it onto one of the molex connectors that are use inside the case already.

Lightbulb Best LCD software?

Well, after seeing one and wanting it - I found a local source for the LCD's 2 days after ordering one from eio.com. oh well.

I got a LED backlighted 4x20 display, got it connected, not sure where to mount it yet, probably gonna make it external - I think it will look better in the long run.

ANYWAY: What is the best parallel based lcd software? I like Smartie LCD, but it seems a little boring. jaLCD is much more cool, but it seems harder to use - a little more complex.

Are these the only 2 options?

HELP!

matroxorbital and crystalfontz used to have drivers on their sites, but i'm not sure it they were proprietary LCD's or not. I have heard that drivers for one won't work easily with the other so i assume that at least one was proprietary. if you google for LCD drivers i'm sure you'll find more then you can handle. i'm also prety sure this has come up several times in the forums, might find it if yuo do a forum search.

I'm not meaning to be a dick or say "do your own research" at all.. i just not awake yet to remember details sorry

I wish I could write what I like. But since I gave up brains for good looks - I'll have to deal with it... Wait a minute- I'm butt ugly too! DAMN! I got ripped coming and going!

Oh well... (I think I'm going bald too!)

Clown, take a look at jaLCD - the new version 3.02 (I think it is), has some very nice effects. Wipes and transistions - and the spectrum analyzer for winamp WORKS... That stupid LCD plugin never worked for me.

(But I think I like smartie better too)
