i have bought cold cathouds from www.svc.com and they have been duper bright and worked really well. I have 2x6" and 2x12" uv cold cathouds and they are super bright. The camer i used was crap so the pic dose not show how the entier room is lit.

Bought a set from xoxide for $18 shipped. One cathode, inverter, PCI backplate, and lil velcro tabs. It's nice. I also have some red EL wire going.

I've got 2x12" Blue and 2x4"cm CCFL's of AC Ryan, but I only installed 1 of the blue onces and keep the second in reserve.
Cause, the funny thing is, if you buy them by 2, it's only 2$ more then by 1! (example: 1=9$, 2(+sound)=11$)

Gothic Gargoyle has no cathodes, but uses 2 generic side-marker lights and a 4-LED array to backlight the cross.

Project Pisces has one 12" UV cathode and one 6" UV cathode.

μ-Blaze has two 6" red cathodes.

Modding On The Cheap (as yet unnamed project) has four 12" UV cathodes; 3 for the business side, and 1 to light up the back fish-panel.

Cathodes are great because they don't give off hardly any heat, but it's important to try to implement them (or any other kind of light, for that matter) in original ways. Anyone can stick a cathode to the floor of their case with double-sided or velcro tape and have it blazing out of a window. To be unique means re-thinking your lighting to get different effects, and make your case look like something other than a stock case with a cathode inside it.

My next project will be to do a hot-rod/musclecar-themed case that I originally began way back in 2002 but put on the back...back...WAYYYY back burner. It will have no cathodes or any interior lighting, most likely. Because musclecars and hot-rods with neons is an unforgivable sin!
