| Apex Techie Lite | Full tower. The only time Ive used otherwise (personally) was for my first ever computer. It was a PC-60, which isnt small, but I upgraded it a month later. When customers ask for MidTowers, I always try to talk them into a full tower. |

| Linux Warrior | I just bought an Enlight 7396AM1 slim server case from Directron. For $20, it works great for what it was intended for. Pros: it's on sale for $20. You know how most small Micro-ATX cases are paper-thin steel? I can put all of my 200 pounds on this thing, and it doesn't bend. Solid as a rock. It's a genuine slim *Server* case. Has an awesome rubber isolation mount for the HD. Intrusion switch. Screwless CD-Rom installation. Good airflow. It weighs a solid fifteen pounds..... totally empty! Comes with a tower-style stand. Screwless top lid, and it's very heavy-duty. The HD and CD are both totally accessible from the front, in case you have these stacked and have to get to the bottom one. Cons: requires a slim CD drive. This isn't a problem if you've got an old Pentium laptop lying around like I did. Requires low-profile PCI and/or AGP cards. If you're creative, you can trim and bend regular brackets if the actual card is short enough (that's what I'm going to do). No reset switch, but as I stated, it's a server case. The side fan is kinda noisy if it's running at 100%. Again, it's a server case. Guys, if you've got a pile of old MATX boards lying around, this might be what you need to turn them into a folding farm! I'm probably going to get another one for my kid's computer, and I might even stuff my 3.0Ghz. P4 into one just to see if it'll run on the 180W PSU (it's running on a 200W unit right now without problems). |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm considering putting a PC in a cylinder which will be pressurized to increase the effectiveness of air cooling. Obvious issues are component maintenance/alteration access delays(slow pressure changes to prevent rapid thermal change), IO cable connections, pressure sensitive components(capacitors, hard drives), and finally, transfer of heat from pressurized interior. If I decompress too fast, the components are chilled which causes condensation upon opening. If I compress too fast, components are heated and melt or combust. In high air pressure, capacitors may leak, implode, or just function differently. Hard drives won't implode because they have a vent. They may have read/write errors due to the head lifting too far from the platter. Repeated pressure changes may increase the amount of dust getting through the vent filter. Thermal transfer could be accomplished with heatsinks on the interior and exterior of the cylinder. Active air circulation inside; passive outside. A water system with an internal and external radiator(possibly the cylinder itself) could also work.
