![]() | I cant vote cause there are no options for me. 1) I modded my PC for silence (Zalman 7000B Cu @ min rpm, Tagan 380W, passive NB cooling, old AMD CPU cooler on my Hercules R9500PRO + 80MM fan @ 4V) 2)My modding victim is an 8 years old case- very thick steel... heavy, works as an additional silencer .2) I got rid of the top, right and left panel of my case and replaced it with 3-5mm thick glass (NOT plexi) in aluminium frames + hand carved dragons in it + lighetd them up with 16 ultra bright blue LEDs powered by an DC suplly my own construction (transforms 12V in to 60V). 3)Im going to use a lot of modding-mesh in the iterrior of my case (hide the ugly metal parts maybe paint them later). I dont have a digital camera so i post only 1 picture of my work... it wasn't finished yet so there are only 3 3LEDs... How do you rate it? What is your opinion about it? Edit: Oh i found 2 more pictures... goody (they are BIG so u can see the deatils).Ps... sorry my English... im form Poland so dont laugh if i sound wierd . ![]() | A lot harder than plexi... and more expensive (diamond tools - glas is really hard). But that is the reason why i chose glas... it looks a lot better than plexi (in my opinion), lets more light through, doesnt get scratched, its heavy and makes my PC even more silent. I use my trusty dremel (the orignal not some Toya or sth). That dragon took about 4-5 hours to etch. You need a really steady hand... it isnt easy to wield a whining dremel and etch such thin lines (thick are even harder cause the width must be the same everywhere!). Precision is the most impotrant thing. If you make a mistake, it will be visible after the LEDs are turned on and it can ruin your entire work. There a lot of things taht you need to learn by yourself if you want to etch glass. An example... cooling the surface and diamont tip with water makes the diamond wheel piont live 100% longer (or more) but the water gets dirty really quick and after a few seconds you cant see the glass at all! The way that you hold the dremel is really important, holding it the wrong way will kill the diamond wheel point within 5-10 minutes! So... yes etching glass is difficult but a little practice and a few killed diamond wheel points and you will learn it . |

![]() | I have done several computers for myself and family. Retired so I have plenty of free time. I have cut holes, added fans, cut windows, polished metal, painted, sleeved wires, modded power supplies, built fan controllers and such. I wish I could airbrush like an artist but that ain't happenin'. I have become a fan of polygfx skins lately putting custom skins on my last two computers (Neo Ranga and Gun Girl). They will print anything you want. I have an itch to do a Looney Tunes theme computer next. I also want to do something different to the computer I websurf with. I administrate a college sports forum and would like to do a theme case for it also. I have not ventured into building my own case or getting out the fiberglass and bondo. I look at case modding as an art form, a hobby and a way to relax.

| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | Modding of my type wasn't listed in the poll.... Took a dual CPU Compaq Proliant AP550 server mobo, PSU, and switches, and stuffed in a Premod Gamer case (the one on my Blog located here) Currently that is totally torn apart, for some major reworking - front bezel getting cut out, adding some Mesh from HomeDepot in place of the cut outs, will also be totally repainting bezel Black, including the optical drives. (two CDRWs currently) ... Also have a Blue RaidMax case (the one with the Z on the drive bay doors) - premod case...(this will be my oldest daughters) it's still in the planning stages, but it will be blue and black - probably totally black inside, with a Blue mobo (we've looked at several and are still at a loss as to which she wants), blue lights, blue wiring, and the internal parts of the optical drives and the hdd/floppy's will probably be a blue to match the exterior of the case.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hmmnnn .... pre-mod case, with a few extras thrown into the inside ... lit fans, LEDs, rounded cabling replacing the crappy old ribbon, quiet fans added (I was generating heat) ... Still, I'm looking for a cheap, blank case ... I want to rip open the panels, custom cut the side windows, add all the design myself. Any suggestions? -godling

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I have built my own case from the ground up. I have everything from the clear acrylic case and clear power supply all the way to the Thermal Take cup holder/lighter combo. I really enjoy building them and in a day I will have the last order of parts I need to put my 2nd acrylic case together. I plan on selling the bad boy. Peace . |
