Question How often do you "spring clean" and defrag your system?

How often you get rid of junk/unused files and defrag your drives?

Not often enough. BTW, when I voted it took me to the home page instead of back to the thread.

I used to do it like twice a month...haven't done it anytime recently though.

And I have been letting the junk pile up over here as well....ugh...

I agree with BA on Diskeeper...Can just set it and forget it if you like...I like that you can defrag all your drives and/or partitions at the same time if you go the manually run route too.

I keep my system pretty clean though. I usually run it all once a week at least if not more, depending on much data I've been pushing around.

Really depends on how much junk I've been doing. If I've been downloading, deleting a lot, I've been known to do it 2 or 3 times a week. Normally one to two weeks though.

Diskeeper ROCKS!! also Norton's Speed Disk is pretty good! I do my cleaning/defrag one every 2 weeks... sometimes once a week, depending on the traffic my PC has seen that particular week.

I've learned over the years to stay away from any Norton product except their antivirus program. Been burnt too many times with thier invasive programming.

it takes to long to defragment especially when you have 260 gigs... its just not worth it.

ill format and start clean before i do that.

For one you don't need to degrag all of the time. When you start the proggie it usually tells you if you need to go through the process.

I only do it after I have installed many programs in a short period or after I have cleaned out a months worth of temp files.

I've actually heard that defrag numerous times isn't good for your harddrive.
