| After researching the topic a bit more and posting a thread here about it myself, I've decided to hold off until the technology matures a bit and when there's more software widely available to make use of the second core. Just a good 64-bit processor is next, though! | ||

| In the words of the infamous J-Dogg It Pwns Joo. I already have mine. I got mine when it first came out the 4400. The speed is amazing. I can game and have a single core dedicated to just the os and other programs and one core dedicated to the game. Not to mention how much better photoshop and many other programs run. I cant wait for games to become multi threaded. It really is a good deal if you get the 3800. The 4400 and 4800 are a little expensive for most people but the 1mb cache on each core does help in certain games and benchs. | ||

Eh.. kids are cheapest right after their born, it's a few months after their born they become expensive. Buy now, you won't be able to afford computer parts for many more years. ![]()

| I feel like whenever hardware makers "hit a wall", they double up on everything... look at SLI for instance. What this tells me is that within 6 mo to a year there will be a big "revolution" in computer hardware, and everything on the market today will be obsolete... | ||

| Just upgraded to a 6600GT and a new 160Gig SATA drive - have no plans/money/energy to go abouts changing my CPU - the HSF cabling is tied down tighter than a mental patients bed . Dual cores sound nice - but you need to use them properly to get anything out of them. I voted Games/Apps to support first. ![]() | ||

Also depends on what you wanna do with your system. I usually recommed AMD for gamers and Intel for budget or primarily media related computer use, like video/audio processing and encoding.

| Argh, someone, straight answer please. Option: Intel 820 2.8ghz Dual core, with intel D945PSN mobo, Windows XP Pro, Photoshop Elements 3.0 all new all legit for $215. Is that worthwhile (and I don't mean just to sell off) or should I just buy a Venice Core 3000+? | ||
