| Well I just got the zen vision yesterday and im converting videos for it so I have some time to right a review for you guys. Lets Start Off With The Bad Software: I have to say I hate windows media player and creative media source, I was hoping I could just drag and drop and use my Mac but it only supports drag and drop on PC. The software does come with a converter but IMO its very slow. Bottom Line: If you don't use windows media player for your media files your gona have a hard time moving everything over. But if you do use windows media player for all your media you wont have any problems Ok Thats the bad, now lets get to the good. Screen The screen on this thing is huge!! Everything on it looks amazing, pictures look better on it then they do on my new Viewsonic 20 inch widescreen LCD. I did notice some ghosting with the color red when I first used it but I cant seem to see it anymore. Also its super bright, I took it out of the box and was in awe I was even more surprised to find out that it was only at 50% brightness, 100% is amazing!! UI The UI is pretty good, it does everything well but doesn't do anything revolutionary Support This thing plays tons of media files, It played everything I had without even having to convert them (except my .mp4 files, it will convert them for you though) even files with resolutions 2X as much as the screens resolution played without trouble. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone that wants music player and a view videos, this thing is just to big, go get a iPod Video. But if you want a total media solution nothing comes close!! | It looks just right to me. I have been looking at these for a while to transfer pictures to. Can you tell me anything more about it SS, like does it act as a USB host, take a CF card, any other connections, etc? I'd love to see some good closeup pics of the display as well as some of the I/O capabilities. | ||

| here ya go, sorry in the picture with the close up thats my cameras fault, it couldnt foucus on something that close. also the pictures that you can see the red, blue and green thats also the camera fault. The ones with the macbook are with the macbook on full brightness and the Zen on 10% and then 100% you can see the difference. And the two close ups with the shack and the grave those are bolth close ups. | ||

| Looks like I answered my own question regarding the CF slot:
I do wonder about the USB host issue. It's listed for the Zen Vision M, but not the W. It's not a dealbreaker, but it would be nice. Did you get the 30GB or the 60GB?

30 I know you can transfer pictures from your compact flash card to your zen and you can use a adapter and use it with other cards too. Is that what you meant by USB host? You cant just hook up anything thats USB though, it doesn't even show up on my mac as a drive. It might work if you find some kind of USB to compact flash thing but im not sure.

| My friend has had one of these for a while and I have to say it's a very good video player, alot better than the video ipod as it has a high res screen which is nice and big and bright and plays back video smoothly. The Battry is also amazingly good.. it lasts him about a week of heavy music playing. Although it does have a few bad points, the music playback isn't great quality even with better headphones than creatives bundled (which are utter crap). The speaker is usellessly quite and shouldn't rearly be included. The hard disk is only 30gb even though it's a video player! no where near enough room for a whole futurama collection. There is alot of distortion at high volume levels. The screen scratches quite easily and so needs a protective sticker thingy. The included software cannot convert alot of videos and so lots of time is spent hunting down tools to convert videos into formats it accepts. But overall a very good VIDEO player, don't buy the primary purpose is music playing. | ||
