I got mine today. I'm getting much lower temps at 2.4ghz when I used to run @ 2.3... but then again, I was a retard with my thermal paste before.

I just installed mine the other day. i went from max of 2.24ghz on athlon xp 3000 to 2.34ghz. at 2.24 with my volcano loads used to be 49C, now with it oc'ed more i have yet to even hit 40C. 38C is as high as i got.

If it wasnt for your review I would never had baught it.

As I said, I modeled my application off of a retard applying thermal paste. It took a lot of studying, and meant a lot of drool on my clothes

Short, sweet, and to the point...

The SI-97 sucks.

Started to use it today on an NF-7S v. 2.0 with an AMD Barton 2600+ with no overclocking and my idle temps are at 42C. I've got an 80mm Panaflo fan and the clips that are included with the heatsink do a pretty damn poor job of keeping the fan attached.

I'm willing to sell this to anyone for $20.00 plus shipping once I get a new heatsink. Any takers?

They have to be tweeked, I don't see anyone else getting those temps. Besides Tek's review had to be revamped by BA (I think) because Tek's version was barely understandable.

Wow..I thought I had a defective one or my higher temps were because I was using a 80mm fan. Now that I see other people having the same results as me with this..maybe we should have this thread deleted?

What temps are you getting with other heatsinks? Ambient temp? What kind of cfm for the fan? Not that I put a great deal of stock in Tekxroid's review, but this heatsink has garnered nothing but shining reviews virtually everyplace it's been tested using the suggested 90mm Panaflo medium cfm fan. Overclockers has it rated 3rd on their list of socket A cooler using a vantec fan. Systemcooling puts it 4 degrees cooler than the ALX-800 and 1 degree ahead of the Aerocool HT101 using the recommended fan and losing only 1 degree with an 80mm fan.

And 42C is certainly not that high on a Barton 2600+. It's not quite the space heater my Athlon 2600+ is, but still a very hot processor. And is that measured via probe or mobo? My NF7-s reads about 4 degrees higher with MBM than by the thermal probe attached to the back of the processor and that reading has changed with every BIOS update I've done. Temps without method and ambient attached to them are completely meaningless.

Not ragging on you ma man, I'm just curious. I just bought one for a rig I'm building for my parents that won't except a Zalman. Guess, I'll throw it on the ol' test rig and see what kind of numbers I come up with. I'm gonna be ticked if it doesn't perform well.

I used to get 36C idle and 40C under load with my SLK-900A using the same cpu and same Panaflo fan. The Panaflo fan is a 80mm H1A that runs 2.08w with a max rpm of 2950 pushing up to 39.6cfm.

I've measured the heat three different ways...BIOS, temp probe, and MBM5. The thermal probe is measuring about 40C idle while the BIOS and MBM5 are reading 42C idle.

It is possible, I guess, that maybe one of the tubes is defective, therefore not pulling enough heat away from the processor. All I know is that when I do get my other case done, I'm switching out the heatsink. I've had the fan fall off twice now because of the clips they include with the heatsink.

I have the Zalman CNPS7000alcu (maybe wrong on model but the one with 92mm fan). My load temps with this fan are lower at load than at idle on the si-97, but then again I am using a 80mm panaflo.
