| When PC building is intended for people other than yourself, priorities tend to change in a much as price, quality, and of course customer satisfaction. The latest move with all OEM PC manufacturers is the LCD/TFT flat screen. With all the space saved, power consumption below half of what a CRT used, its no wonder the market has moved in this particular direction. I have also tried to keep up with this mass –migration to the flat world. All be it a bit expensive for my taste, the customers smile upon receiving the flat screen is worth it. Behold the FP557s 15†LCD monitor form Benq: ![]() A few numbers and useless things: - Max Resolution:XGA 1024X768 - Contrast:450:1 - Response Time:16ms - Gross Weight:4.5Kg (10lbs) - Power rating: 100-240V, 50-60Hz, 1A -Screen Dimensions:457x348x127 (with base attached) - Packaging Dimensions:395x380x157mm - Colour:Silver and White (black base and support) - Internal power adapter - Power consumtion:30Watts Packaging: Straight fromEbuyer, the monitor arrived, box unscathed or water damaged with a colourful outlook on life: ![]() ![]() ![]() As can be seen above, the mounting base and support coming from the screen are a bit of an odd shape. This however doesnt make life very difficult, as the monitor is simply lowered onto the base with a "click-click" noise head from the 2 metal tabs on the base. The power cable and VGA cabel are also separated, possibly due to the location of the adapter and the screen PCB, so to avoid interference. Also inside the support on the monitor is some form of grounding cable (conncting to the metal clips on the base). I have to admit im not too sure on what this is meant for, as no connectors go through the base. The control panel has 6 buttons (including power), 1 for the auto adjust function, and 4 for the general settings. The thickness of the monitor compared to some LCD screen is rather large. Again this is due to the PCB being integrated. Thickness ways in at 6 copies of "country living" magasine. Not the best benchmark result from an LCD screen, but good none the less. ![]() | ||
