| Today, brought to you by my local UPS man and McDonald's who pays for my gear (sometimes... ), are a set of four Sunbeam Lighted Case Feet..Price: $25 USD, typically, plus S&H Provider: Me, myself, and my paychecks from Mc'D's Shipping / Packing I shelled out for 3 day shipping as to recieve the parts and have them installed before a LAN... They arrived in timely fashion, with only a minor dent in the box. Plenty of the pink styrofoam peanuts to be found in the box keeping these things safe from the rally racers.. er.. UPS truckers... No real damage done, just asthetic to the cardboard box. Moving on... Packaging The packaging of the feet would be wonderful in a store... clear spots to show the product, inset pictures on the cardboard showing how they look lit up, etc etc... Only thing that caught my attention for oddity was the "Art, Passion, Sunbeam" line across the top... Observations Well, to be honest.. they look quite a bit like the standard Antec/Chieftec/Chenming/Turbogamer/Alienware/blahblahblah clone case feet, except obviously.. they're clear, and underneath the pivot joint is a glued-down LED with a wire that runs out the "top" of them... nothing terribly spectacular. Installation Well, according to the instructions... " 1、Turn off your computer and upend the case 2、Plug the 4-pin male connector of the accessory wire harness into power supply 3、Loosen two screws of case chassis and plug 2-pin connector into the case through the hole on the bottom panel 4、Plug the 2-pin connector into the accessory wire harness 5、Fasten the case chassis onto the bottom panel by a screw 6、fasten the case chassis cover by two screws 7、Installing other three case chassis following above steps 8、Adjusting the case chassises to make the case standing stably 9、Turn on the computer and enjoy the perfect effect " ^Taken from Sunbeam Tech's website To be honest... why did they call them "case chassis"? They're freakin' case FEET! ..Anyway, to me, these instructions were very confusing... loosen two screws? No, you had to take the two screws that held the LED's plate in off so you could screw the foot to the case.. All in all, after spending 10-15 minutes between fiddling with it and following the directions (not entirely in that order), I got one of the feet on... the next 3 only took 5 minutes tops, total.. including the one that had the stripped out screw (where the phillips head goes) Frustrating it was, for something that's supposed to be so simple to do... End Results After the struggle to install them, I got to thinking.. man, this had better be worth it... You're going to have to look at the pictures, which don't hardly do it justice.. infact, the pictures are awfully grainy, but the end effect of having lighted case feet is just awesome. At first I'd thought they were possibly UV feet with a UV led, but I guess its just the effect of smoked acrylic on light.. Conclusion For only spending $25 on them (came to $31'ish shipped from SVC ), they seemed a pretty worthwhile detail mod for the money. It's not going to draw the oohs, and the aaahs, and make the case godly in and of itself.. but as another fine detail to a good set up, it is perfect for that. The Pimps Awesome effect Reasonably inexpensive The Gimps Frustrating install due to bad instructions I award these Sunbeam Tech lighted case feet, or to be proper.. Case Chassis... 7/10 Pimp Hats My thanks to MightyThor of Chunder Monkey Productions, for allowing me use of a camera for the pictures. Fedora's off to you, bro. ![]() Last edited by TheOutcast; 14-May-04 at 04:05 PM. | ||
