How are they making bucks on a recall? This whole thing, especially that last picture, sounds to me like people breaking their TVs in other ways (or playing WAY too hard) and now having an excuse

I once worked at a company that made metal stampings.
The parts coming off the line were way out of tolerance.
When I brought this to the attention of the plant manager his response was "keep
making parts and ship them. by the time they (our customer) realizes they are bad parts we will have new ones for them"

The profit margin on the Wii is probably high enough to absorb the recall and Nintindo will still profit.
The pressure was high on Nintendo to get the Wii to market before Christmas. Not shipping them on time would have cost them more than a recall.

And yes the TV pic does look suspicious..
