Our $1500 build frames out what is both a solid enthusiast hardware system that will be great for gaming. The Gigabyte DS3 motherboard is quickly becoming a favorite among budget-conscious overclockers and the GeForce 7900 GT is a solid gaming video card below the $250 price point. This base system also leaves plenty of room for upgrading in the future. In fact, we would suggest that this system would easily give you a 24-month upgrade path that would keep you tweaking and gaming. High quality, low cost components with an edge for overclocking make this budget system a great deal.

Why No AMD?

Editor’s Note: Given that both of our system builds have overclocking considered, it is hard to suggest to our readers that you even look towards AMD at this time. AMD builds great processors and the system I am using currently using runs an AMD 4800+ processor. But the fact of the matter is that looking forward, given available overclocking products, Intel’s Core 2 Duo far and away delivers a better overclocking value.

I for one, am not reading any further because of this. They could have Selected another Intel Proc to Pit against AMD, It would have made the computer a lot cheaper since prices have dropped..
