I think it is a gusty move considering they don't have any open source software out. Maybe they will do kind of what virtualbox did when they were purchased by Sun, completely Open Source.

Last year they open-sourced a number of tools and they recently said they would offer a small-footprint version of its ESX virtualisation software. And a month ago they removed co-founder and CEO Diane Greene. So i think we will be seeing some big changes.
