State prosecutors served a "wide-ranging" subpoena seeking documents and information on Intel's allegedly anticompetitive practices, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. Prosecutors are investigating whether Intel violated state and federal laws.

It's gettin tough to do business in NY State.

Andrew Cuomo is Mario Cuomo's kid and he see how former state AG Spitzer rode to the govenor's mansion on the back of numerous lawsuits against "Bad Ol Big Business".

So it's really politics, not economics.

Now I'm not saying Intel wasn't a bad boy, I'm just saying it is not surprising that the lawsuit comes from the Empire State.

If don't know what to really make of all this really, One side of me is saying I wouldn't be surprised, yet the other side is saying seriously, who would be that stupid to do something like this.

I had a feeling something like this would come down the pipe Someday...This Might work out in AMD's favor (in terms of market Share and such) and atleast level the financial playing field.

You would be surprised just how stupid people can be.

The thing is, the AG does this type of stuff all the time in NY and you know what it amounts to for the residents? Zip. ZIlch. Nada. At best teh company pays a fine to the state that might cover the costs of the investigation. Whoopee. How about lowering our damned property taxes, make it easier to live here? What a novel idea that is.....
