Default HIS HD 2900PRO review @ Tweaktown

WOW! What will NVIDIA do now? The HD 2900 PRO is a power house and is simply going to be the card to own in this price bracket. Hopefully the NVIDIA driver team is hard at work creating a new driver that will help boost the performance of the 8800GTS but you have to wonder just how much more performance there is in it.

I'm so tempted to grab a couple from Overclockers.co.uk. No-one else is stocking them AFAIK though - it would be good to find 'em cheaper than £170 somewhere.

Newegg's got them in stock but they're still above $270.

The only other place that I've found to have them in stock is Tekhead.co.uk. I've never ordered from them though, and It's only a fiver less than OCUK.
Tekheads.co.uk

*UPDATE* There not in stock yet, but I'm sure it wont be long. Check the price on ebuyer! £148.64!
PowerColour A60C-PVE3 2900Pro 512mb PCI-E Graphics Card

As soon as they have them I'm getting one! They come with the HL2:EP2 Black Box too which is VERY nice, as I won't need to count down to the 10th anymore.

just ordered mine a bout 30 mins ago, grand total w/shipping, a whopping $287.48...practically the same price as the 8800GTS 320MB

doesn't happen very often, but this is one of those rare moments when something comes out of the blue, and is EXACTLY what i need, for the price im willing to pay. Could this be the beginning of the big turnaround for AMD/ATI?

...the next 9700Pro?

+rep Zaltan for the heads up
+rep to AMD for such a wise business decision.

Bioshock, here I come...

EDIT: sorry zaltan, cant rep you yet, gotta spread the love.

That would be nice. They sort of need a boost at the moment. They've got alot of pretty things in the pipeline, but there current hand might be slightly weaker than their oppositions.

But regardless of that, these cards are looking great and I hope there a winner for ATi (AMD).

Yeah I've been monitoring ebuyer.com for the past couple of weeks and they haven't updated that listing. Maybe they're not getting any in stock; I heard supply would be limited.

ATi fans, check this post out:

Thats sort of what ebuyer do. They have things on there site quite a while before there out. I reckon next week they'll have them. I'm not saying wait though, I'd like to see Q6600 + 2900PRO scores before I buy one.

Hmm considering selling my 8800 GTS, For a couple of these to crossfire , might even stretch to selling my E6850 and getting a Q6600......Still waiting on the student loan to make a decision

Hey stan...I might be selling my B3 Q6600 to get a G0-stepping model. So if you're interested, I'd be able to work out a good price for you Also, with your Blitz mobo, you'd be looking at a 13% improvement over standard P35-crossfire due to the 8 lanes your second slot provides, but I think you'd need to be nabbing that 800w PSU off me or Ollie if you want to go with dual 2900s!

Thats pretty much exactly what we've just been talking about. Weird. But yeah that would be awesome having Crossfire in the house, and at £150, I might just pick one up myself.

Student loans FTW. Has anyone had theres yet? Its really annoying that I'm 2 weeks into my course and I haven't had it. I've only been out once in that time, due to having to survive of about £30. I should have been paid by my old employers yesterday though, so when these cards are instock I will hopefully get one.

Q6600 and HD2900PRO crossfire would be a pretty nice system. Big numbers in 3Dmarks for sure.

I sent my confirmation letter back about 3 weeks ago, about 2 months after the July deadline, and got mine on time in full on the 24th of this month. Arc Angel, who did it all properly and on time, is still waiting for his.

Just goes to show that leaving things till the last minute works

well, mine shipped from CA yesterday, so i guess the rumors about low availability/stock are unfounded, or are a lot of people just having bad luck?
