Default Radeon HD2950XT due November

Seems ATi is releasing an updated 2xxx-series card to compete with nVidia's G9x offering in November. They're moving to 65nm so it looks like they've finally realised that having a furnace for a graphics card is pretty impractical. It'll be interesting to see if this card can unlock the latent performance potential of ATi's 2xxx-series architecture.

I guess that was the 1GB XT. That's what they did with the X1950.

I think this is what you're talking about. I think xoxide had an actual XTX a while back but the only difference was a higher clock/memory speed.

1GB 2900XT's were GDDR4... 2950XT's should be pretty sweet... If its 65nm they'll probably clock really well (2900XT do crazy stuff on LN2 ~1.2GHz). 2900PRO and 2950PRO are more my thing though, I'll be waiting for something like that.

Oh boy, another stupid expensive card that sucks up stupid amounts of power, only to get you 20 more fps.

If I recall, wasn't the 2900xt a big flop? Took more power and couldn't keep up with the 8800gtx?

2900XT's are just as fast as 8800GTX's (and £80 cheaper in the UK). Drivers were really bad at first though, thats probably the performance scores you've seen.

What the ATI cards have going for them is that the Nvidia mobo chipsets are not exactly the cream of the crop when it comes to overclocking, but the intel chipsets support Crossfire.

Some piccies attached, taken from RV670 card (Radeon HD 2950) pictured | NordicHardware

Strange thing is though, they've got an article on the Radeon X2600XTX, and the pics are practically the same.

Either it's a strategy to try and fool people who leak these things onto the net or it's the other way around, some silly bastard who thinks calling a sheep a wolf really makes it a wolf.
