Should be nice. That doesn't sound like that many transistors though... R600 has about 700 million, I'd expect an 8 core CPU to have more.

It will. The ~700million transistors is only for the quad core I think.

The title is wrong. Look further down the article. It says,"Each 4-core Nehalem is built from 731M transistors, nearly double that of Penryn. The 8-core variant isn't ready yet so we don't have a transistor count for that one as of this writing." In other words the 4 core has 731m transistors.
