I used WHS back in June and my opinion of it is fairly in line with theirs. For a first attempt it does a really nice job though the lack of Media Center Functions is annoying. It also becomes a lot better once you start downloading the 3rd party add in's.

Home server seems pretty good for the likes of average folks (like me!)
I'd never thought of running it in a virtual machine though!
Was originally going to set up an ITX box for it - but now.... I'll have to give it a go!
