The Barcelona CPU samples they have currently are not the final versions and bugs are still being discovered, they added.

I hope not. *fingers crossed*

That sucks, I really hope that Barcelona is the rope that is going to take AMD out of this hole that they have dug themselves. I'm building a new rig and I almost went Intel after seeing Benchmarks of the X2s and the Core 2 Duos.

Wasn't it late July anyway? August wouldn't be bad, but september would. QuadCore K10 is going into my next build, which I was going to do in September.

Still going with the 2900XT?

I'm awaiting the XTX version before i buy anything. Like I've said before though, i skipped DX8 and 9, so why not wait it out for 10. Hopefully the XTX version of the 2900 will have the price point that can make 8800's go down enough for me to buy.

Meanwhile, I'd like to see K10 Quad Core help AMD out, it would be nice to see competitive pricing again. These Core duo's aren't looking to bad anymore.

I heard that ...

I'm planning a new rig in December, and wanted the 2900XT along w/ Barcelona. But the 2900XT doesn't outperform 8800's in a lot of current testing (driver issues, I'm sure, will improve the product), and the C2D chips are kickin' butt as well. Maybe it's time I went back to Intel / nVidia, instead of the AMD/ATi build I was planning.

the reason the 2900XT isn't murdering the 8800s is they weren't designed to.

They are pretty much targeted at the majority of PC users who just want to play games and can deal with 30 to 60 FPS, not the Hardcore PC users and gamers. =/ Hopefully AMD is on to something with this.

I'd like to see some good middle level parts across the board. An 8700 that brought about a big improvement in preformance would be especially nice.

Its a tough decision for me between those 2 cards, I lean more towards Nvidia because of price and past experience with ATI.. I dunno, I suppose I'll give it alittle more thought when I build this new rig.
