I saw 'Kaypro' brand Pentium clones a while back.

What made the C64 have its huge longetivity was that it has game-console style hardware standardization-- there wasn't a huge amount of difference (some firmware details mainly) between the first 64 and the last one. Conversely, the first C64 competed with single-floppy, DOS 1.1 PCs; the last one competed with 486DX workstations.
