TrekToday - Paramount Officially Announces Trek XI For Christmas 2008

Awesome news...but...It is an odd numbered Trek movie...

2,4,6,and 8 were awesome. It's hard for me to pick a 'fav' out of those, but I still hold a preference to First Contact (8)

1,3,5,7,and 9 (and a little of 10) were pretty dull movies...Especially 1 and 3.

But a good thing is that JJ Abrams is directing it! That's great news!

If the rumors hold true...I can definitely see this film as being well done...

Kirk - Matt Damon
Spock - Adrian Brody
Sulu - Daniel Dae Kim (Lost's Jin)
McCoy - Gary Sinise
Scotty - James McAvoy

I am just glad they are keeping with the xmass date. My dad and I always went to the new ones after xmass dinner, gunna be weird seeing it with out him

but will anyone beable to pull the part off as well as shatner??
and are they going to stay with the idea of basing the plot on the mirror universe stories?!
i'll have too have a scout around and see what i can find out!!

From what i've heard, idk how they're going to keep continuity with canon. Spock was on starships long before the humans were even at the academy, where this is supposed to take place... good casting for the most part, aside from mua'dib as scotty.

4 and a half more seasons of DS9, 6 and a half more of Voyager, and 4 more movies to go...

I should really get to watching voyager again, I was in the middle of the 2nd season.....

I think they should not try and redo the first crew myslef, lightning never strikes twice in the same place!

I am glad they are reviving it, but I have my reservations if anyone can fill the original crews shoes.

And BTW, Star Trek Enterprise was pretty good,I would put it above DS-9!

I mean...at least we got to see Tapol naked!

I dont think i'd go that far, but Enterprise was seriously underrated, i think in part due to the crappiness of the last few seasons of voyager. And TNG is seriously overrated, but the last few, esp S7 were great.

Watching Voyager 108 right now, 2 more eps to go till Generations, woo.

This may change a bit as i watch more voyager, i may split it somewhere, but heres my humble opinion so far...

DS9 S4-7 > TNG S4-7 > DS9 S1-3 > TOS > TNG S1-3 > ENT S3-4 > VOY > ENT S1-2 > TAS

Huh, captain janeway is pretty badass... shuttle full of explosives.

Aaaand onto 109 - Emanations, the one with the crazy cemetary asteroid where harry gets euthanized at the end.

i don't know about you guyz, but ive always wondered if it would be good if instead of going down the same old tos and tng based movies maybe we could see a trek movie based on either ds9, voyager or enterprise??
theres plenty of good plot themes to be explored there me thinkz!
either set just before where the shows start ( except for enterprise i think! ) or maybe somewhere in the middle?! ( like during the dominion wars ds9, or year of hell voyager!! )
what do you all think?

I dont think it would be a good idea to do a movie in the middle of a series, thats without precident, and as for a DS9 movie, they wrapped that up. Everybody left and went their seperate ways, Siskos gone. Voyager was wrapped up too, everybody has their own ships. Not like TOS or TNG, which both left things open for movies. They could always do some other random crew, but i dont know if people would warm to that.

Just started Generations, i havn't seen this in a while, i dont remember if it sucks bad or not as much... and i think that bottle of champagne would be completely frozen, on impact if not before. Heh, Cameron.
