Default What kind of primer to use?

So here is my situation. I have a old semi modded case that I like the layout of, bezel is nice and lots of room behind the MOBO. I have modded and painted cases before this one is gonna be a project I want to be flawless. The case is alrdy sanded down, all of the manufacture paint came off real easy but the spray painted inside did not come off completely but is sanded smooth to 400 grit. So the whole outside of the case is bare aluminum and the inside of the case is some bare aluminum and some sanded down spray paint. Should I use self-etching primer, filler primer, or something else? Im thinking self-etching primer would be the best bet, but decided to get a 2nd opinion on this.

Yes, self-etching primer is your best route as it will bond to metal the best. Although I use generic "Painter's Touch primer" on all my mods and get great results.

where can u find self-etching primer. I was looking at Wal-Mart and none of the primers were specifically self-etching although there was some rust-o-leum automotive primer. Is that what you mean??

I usually get mine at an automotive store. It should say self-etching on it.

How about recommending a brand name? I can't recall if the primers I've used in the past were self-etching, but if it's the cat's a$$, I'll use it before painting my Chakra case's chassis.

I can't rember the name but I have always got mine from Oreilly's. It's like $4 or $5 a can. It's what I use when redoing some of the body work on cars.

Well, we don't have O'Reilly's here in Canada, and all paints have a cost in that price range, so it would be much more helpful if you can get the name off a can the next time you use it. Thanks.

duplicolor high build primer. fills in minor divits that you then don't need to sand out. Still can't find any spray putty, the stuf the BOSS mod guy used.

self etching works well. i havent needed metal primer in a while, i mainly work on plastic...lol, damn front panels

I'm trying out Duplicolor black sandable primer, as shown in the attached image. I've used other brands but Duplicolor is one of the better names.
