| Apex Master Tech | 1) for best results color sand (wet sand) after each coat, then on the clear coat colorsand, then rubbing compound 2)I'm not sure sorry 3) its a bad idea to use one brand on one part of the computer and another brand on another part. I suggest you stick with dupli color for primer>base>clear. But yes its a good idea to still prime and sand anyway. | |

| Orange peal comes from clear coat, in a base/clear application. You dont have to sand the base coat, this will have no effect on the orange peal. Block the dried cleared panels with 1200-1500 grit wet sand paper (use a little dawn soap in the water, makes the sanding smoother). keep a dry cloth or paper towls on hand when your blocking. To check an area to see if its blocked enough just dry it off with the cloth/paper towl and it should be all dull with nothing shiny/reflective. Try to keep the block realy flat and be carefull around edges and corners cause there is a chance of sanding through. Then apply your rubbing compound. I always try and prime plastic parts, cause there realy unpredictable. If the primer sticks, then your paint will stick. | ||

Sorry, Im not too great with spray can paint experience on plastic, and i couldnt tell you the best brand for clear. Maybe someone who has a realy good experience with a clear that lays nice and flat could post here. To check to see how well that primer/paint sticks to acrylic just spray some on a test peice and check on it... Without a google search on what duplicolor products are available, i couldnt tell u much more. Last edited by beachbum86; 24-October-06 at 07:25 PM..

| IMO, the differences in clear are minimal. The clear is only as good as the painter, so to speak. Meaning, if you sand it nice and flat, then it probably won't matter what brand you use, as long as you take your time to prep. | ||

My bad, I honestly didn't think it would matter. I know I have nowhere near your experience with painting, so what are your favorite/recommended brands besides duplicolor?
