Default Painting a hard drive ,,,,,,, posible????

Hello I just recently painted my case green on the outside and silver on the inside with some of that prism spray paint stuff over top so its shiny . But my question is could i paint my 250 gig western digital ide hard drive too? i just want to paint the metal plate on the top and mount it vertically instead of horizontal. so i guess i have two questions. First being would painting the harddrive cause it to over heat, and as long as i tape the sides and bottom the paint wont damage the hard drive . also maybe should post this in another forum but i was also curious if i mount it vertical would that cause any damage the hard drive i would like to have it so the power adapter and ide cable are pointing upwards if you have any comments or tips that wopuld be appreciated

thanks alot

dell normallysells there PC with the hard drive up and down instead of flat and i dont think the aluminumplate would bother the drives heat if you painted it, and the drive is sealed inside so as long as you keep it neat, i mean your gonna have to remove the label and that will void the warranty and also open the air holes, best bet is to paint the sides and leave te top alone
