Default Best material for Re-usable stencil?

What kinda material do you guys use to make stencils that is:
Re-usable
Easy to cut on
Possible to draw on. preferably with a pencil.

I'm thinking about painting my case entirely mirror-finish.
But the problem is I'm planning to have flames paint on the side too, so I thought I would carry out the process as normal (sanding, painting, sanding etc etc..) but everytime I get to adding the color coat, I first put a stencil, lay a coat of black (main color), then just lay the other opposing stencil and paint on the green flames then continue teh process...

That's why I need a re-usable material that I can make a stencil easily outta.

Thanks!

I don't know what stores are in your area, or can ship to you.
but in the US I would look for stencil material at craft/hobby stores, or autobody repair supply stores.
most should carry a thin plastic "cling" film as well as a heavier clear stiff plastic used for repeated (reusable) stencils.
Try googling to find it in your area

Hey Thanks T-shirt!

We don't have any auto supply repair stores here, but we have some posh art/craft stores here so i'll check it out.

lol thanks, before I used brown paper which turned soggy, thick card which doesn't cut and just plain paper which turned into tissue..

OfficeMax and such usually sell overhead projector plastic sheets, that you can print on with an injet printer.

Might your purpose, and not break the bank.

Sweet Idea, but I need the stencil to be able to cover a whole side panel.

But, I don't really know how big X-rays go..

But that'll work for my top panel, and love the fact taht they can be printed on .

Thanks!

For years I've used an architect's design card board. It's light weight, flexible, comes in big sheets and is printed with a bue grid; not expensive and you find it architect's and engineer's drafting supplies.
You paint it with shellac, VERY important, then draw and cut your stencil. I reuse them many times.
