Default wet sanding

What is wet sanding and in what ways ( if any) is it better than regular ?
Also I'm gonna be painting my case soon and I was wondering if I should sand the paint off or use a paint thinner, or strip the paint off then sand it to give the paint something to stick to.

Wet sanding really stands above the rest when using finer grit paper. Like 400 and finer grit paper. Just remember that wet sanding grits are not the same as dry paper, when using 400 wet, you would get the same scratch with 320 dry.
Wet sanding keeps the paper cleaner and won't "clog" as easy. A good example of that is if you dry sanded your finished paint job with 1500 grit dry paper before you polished it out, you would have some deep scratches and gouges that you wouldn't have got, if you wet sanded properly. The reason is that the water with a very, very small amount of soap, ( 409, simple green etc.) will help lubricate the surface and carries the 'foreign' material up on top of the surface, helping to keep the paper clean.
Now as far as stripping your case with stripper DON'T!!!!!!!.
Tha factory finish is an excellent primer, good adhesion, sands easy and it is already on there. If you had multiple paint jobs and was worried of paint build up, then I recommend 'sand' stipping it with 220 grit dry paper, or even 180.
I recommend you read these, I tried to duplicate paint jobs that most of you would be doing.

Hope this helps

Yes I am working on a airbrush article. Recently I started a thread on wanting to paint a case. I pm'd BZA to let him know that I wanted to paint his case in a BF1942 theme. Want to paint shot down plane in a battlefield scene, figured that would be perfect, being that game is taking the gamers by storm right now.
I will post it right here when finished.
