Default Crinkly effect w/ spray paint

While doing some experimentation, I discovered that if I painted a surface without letting it dry completely, and then clear coated the business, I could cause the paint to wrinkle up. I'd like to try this effect on an entire case to give it a unique texture; is this going to screw up the paint job or am I going to regret it later?

Well, I don't know if it's going to screw up the paint job. As in it's going to fall apart, etc. But I'm guessing if you give it a good long time to cure, and then put on a coat or two of clear, it should be protected enough to keep that paintjob. The best thing to do would be to find a small part or useless part from a computer that you don't care about and paint it that way. Then test it's durability. Can't wait to see this one!

Lightbulb wrinkle effect

When I am " wrinkling" paint, I will put down a color and let dry. Then use some slow reducer in my next color. immediatly after spraying the second color take some wadded up saran wrap or aluminum foil and just blot the surface. It will remove the top coat and show the ground coat through.....well you get the idea. It looks pretty cool. If you are using aerosal, it would work the same way. You can then clear coat it and rub it flat and pimp ass shiny but the effect is under it all so it looks like it is a mile thick.
Enjoy

Sorry, I just think it's funny. Every time I've ever done that it just pissed me off and I had to resand everything smooth again. Nothin like spending all sorts of time painting a Kawasaki and having the paint craze right in the middle of the front fender...

I have seen examples of what Insomniac is talking about. Very nice when done well (eg I've seen a whole freakin van painted that way, looked bad, like someone attacked it with a can of paint remover spray. Saw another one with just accents that way, looked great!)

WIXX, my personal thoughts would be to try it, but don't overdo it. If you do it over an entire case it probably won't have the same effect. But meh, what do I know I am new to this stuff.
