| I recently bought the coolermaster Jet 4 CPU fan for my new pc. It is great except that the heatsink is orange. I am trying to keep my rig a blue/silver/black scheme. I either want to paint it blue or just have it metal color. The question is, how do i remove the orange paint. i dont think i could get all of it by sanding. I wonder if there isnt some kind of liquid i could soak it in that would do the job. | ||

| Uh.............where to begin? The orange color that you see is the color of copper. If you were to paint the heatsink, you are only adding insulation to something that was designed to disapate heat. That's like putting on a heavy winter coat in the middle of a Texas summer day. I don't think that it's a big deal 'cause it's something that can't be avoided. Rob Edit: Probably better off getting a new heatsink that's silver. | Only thing you can do to color that copper is use some Perma blue the stuff that folks use on their gun barrels it will make it a dark blue/black.If you want to use that make sure you dont dip the piece it will be to heavy o coat and flake off. Use a brush or a sponge works well also. Then you better lightly sand the botttom of the heat sink just to make sure you have a clean surface for contact. | ||

| If you had the means you could fashion some knd of shroud to enclose the sink, just leave plenty of room for air circulation out the bottom, otherwise you'll start cooking stuff, exensive stuff. Paint it up and you'd have a stealthed sink, but I personally would polish that baby up, I love the look of a nice shiny copper sink in a rig ![]() | ||

| I believe that the heatsink is painted orange, take a look if u like:http://www.coolermaster.com/index.ph...CB-V83+JET%204. I wouldnt mind the plain polished copper but it sure looks orange to me. if it is such a pain in the bunghole to paint then i probably wont do it. As for a picture, i'll post one when i find my digital camera. If you look at the amd version of the fan (jet 7), it looks like plain copper color on the sink Last edited by 67_GTO; 07-December-04 at 04:27 PM.. | ||

Brother, that is polished copper. Straight metal, no paint on that at all. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
