Another painter, cool. Welcome!! I am a resident paint pimp also.

BTW Special Blend, the best tape for laying out flames is 3M Scotch #218 polypropylene fine line 1/8 inch. Its not cheap anywhere at about $8-10 a roll. Your local auto paint store should have it.

The two shops around here are selling it for $12 bucks a roll so I will get some when I order more paint online. Thanks for the info though.

heh, don't worry, its a common mistake but the cpu is your processor. the computer is the hunk of metal with electronics inside.

Welcome to PR Look forward to seeing your work. I do flames as well.

Agree 100%. You can tear it off by hand. I'll only use Blue 1/8" #471 if the #218 is out of stock. I pay around $8 per roll in MN, but this is 3M's homeland. Look under "Auto Body & Paint Supplies" in Phone book

I used to mask off my flames by adding more tape or newspaper. Then I discovered Transferite paper. After laying out flames, apply Transferite paper over panel, then gently cut out Transferite paper over the 3M striping tape with Exacto knife. Learning how much pressure to apply while cutting takes practice. Apply too much and you can sever paint. I'll always "try" to use new blades to lessen this risk. Once you master painting the flames onto surface, then its onto pinstriping

I used #471 striping tape for this Tribal flame job
