| You know what I mean, we've all seen a color changing car before, haven't we? Some people know it as pearl. Here's an example. http://members.a1.net/leonhard.design/AD_Polo.gif It usually changes 2 or 3 different colors, but it's awesome. Now, anyways, I'm looking into getting my case painting that way. I think that would be so freakin sweet. I just need to find a place that does these jobs and one that will paint a computer. ![]() So what do yall think? | ||

| Yeah, the real stuff you buy for cars is about 300$ a pint! I might just tell 'em to paint it black and make it really shiney or something. Here's someone who painted they're laptop with chamillion paint. http://pctorque.com/misc/chameleon/11.jpg Looks sweet! | ||

a pint is WAY more than you need for a computer. 20 dollars (one clear, one mid, one base) worth in a rattle can will do a mid-tower case, 30 dollars (1 clear, 1 base, 2 midcoats) if you're going to wet sand or large tower. It's the "real" stuff for the record.

| http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....129-115-09.jpg I'm kinda worried about doing all of this stuff by myself. And how would I go about painting the plastic part on the front of my case, as seen in the link above? How difficult would this be? I don't want to end up with a half painting case... | ||

| If you're going to paint the whole case, check the three-can kits of cham paint, see what they say they'll work on... If they won't work on plastic (I doubt it, though), look for a Duplicolor (or same brand) primer spray. The idea is that if you buy the primer/base + paint + clearcoat all the same brand, the worry of one not working with the other is gone... Once you got all the primer/paint/clearcoat you need, a light sanding to get started, give the primer something to adhere to. If you're not sure you're gonna like how it turns out, I'd advise you NOT to do the whole thing, but rather find a piece of aluminum/steel/whatever your case is made out of, and test-paint that. Also, I take it the front panel of your case is plastic? Why not test the paint on the inside of the plastic, where it won't show if you decide it looks like poop. ![]() Best thing to remember, take your time with all the tasks involved with the paintjob, from the sand paper to the masking tape to the paint to the rubbing compound/polish. A rushed job will show, as will a quality job done with patience and care... Take it from me, I've done my fair share of both... | ||

| I've seen both: Lokie's Chameleon Dragon case, and Bschotts Dragula case (both are in the galleries) - IMO, I like Lokie's better... Then again, do you plan on using your case for a mirror? Also things to keep into consideration... if you scratch it, you've got the paint for the cham already.. if you scratch the gloss, either you go buy the "scratch remover" crap, or take it back in.. or.. live with it. *shrug, tosses in another two cents* | ||

![]() If you have a airbrush or spray gun you can by paint by www.autoaircolors.com and they do sell it in 4oz bottle which are perfect for a case. It runs $22.05 for the 4oz bottle of chameleon colors and $83.79 for the pint (if you were wondering). From airbrush-depot

| As far as how good of a home-done paint job on a case, you can see an example in the Case Modding section, in the "Project Vash" thread, by JessAlba452. Plus, Jess is really nice and would be more than happy to help you with tips and such. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread....6&page=4&pp=20 (Post # 77) http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread....6&page=5&pp=20 (Post # 98) Last edited by GrandpaNoob72; 26-November-04 at 01:47 PM.. | ||

| Nice coments Grandpa, she did it all her self and it shows that she did all her homework and it is a great first modded case. Hell we have painting tips here in PR, plenty of Pimps and Hoes there to give you pointers, And there is no greater satisfaction of a case mod than doing it your self. | ||

| Thanks, Lokie... Just a personal bias pro-Jess, I guess, but the bottom line is that she did a kick-ass job on the painting, and I believe she also did a Cham paint job as well (maybe for her BF's case?)... I didn't really have a whole lot of time to devote to answering the question, but all the answers I could think of were in Jess' thread... EDIT: Included the links to the pages within Jess' thread, as well as the post # where the pics are at... Hope that helps ya... Last edited by GrandpaNoob72; 26-November-04 at 01:48 PM.. | ||
