two hours isn't that much time to be expecting a response . .. you could've also tried out the guides as well. there's a link at the top of the page.

anyways, anodizing isn't a paint job. its a chemical process. no lasting really shiny gloss mirror finish paint job will be that easy. it still takes quite a bit of work. you slack on the work, then the paint won't come out as well as it could.

Look at the Duplicolor Metalcast paint. It looks like anodized aluminum. It's more than regular spray, but it is sweet. There is a special base coat(primer) you should use with it as well. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html

would some local buisnesses do the "chemical process" of anodizing or is it a really special thing...

would a chieftec dragon be a good starter case or is it too common?

Well, there are prolly a few places local (depending on where you are) that could do the anodizing for you. I read an article on the web at another mod site on how to do it in you home but it's pretty dicey... definately not for the unanitiated. I could look for the link later if you want.

EDIT: Here is a pretty nice link right here for ya!

Friend,
The process of anodizing is very dependant on the items dipped. The process is similar to chroming, with 2 fewer steps. In the end you'll pay for something that looks like refurbished auto parts. Anodized aluminum is nice because it is done on new, clean parts, fresh from the factory. Take a look in the painting forums, and look at the cases, then decide to take the time to do it right, and be patient!!! For every hour you spend sanding and rubbing out the paint, that is one step closer to prefection! Just like a custom paintjob on a car. Paint doesn't make your PC faster, it just makes your PC look better, so if looks are important, then it is worth the time.

Actually anodizing is nothing like chroming, it does invole electrolosys but electrolosys can be used for many many things. Biologists use electrolosys sometimes in growing cultures, does that make it just like chroming? Chrome plating is just that "Plating" where a certain metal is caused to migrate to another by means of electrolosys to create a new or different layer of metal on the surface.

Anodizing is the process of intentionally causing aluminum to oxidize rapidly. Thats all anodizing is. The oxide on aluminum is very hard, harder than the aluminum itself, much harder. When the oxide is new it just so happens that it is pourous and these pores will accept dye. Not all anodizing is dyed,it doesnt have to be. Dyeing isnt actually part of the anodizing process, this happens after the part has been anodized.

You are also wrong about anodizing having to be done on new parts to look new. You can even strip anodic coatings off a re-anodize.

I have a small anodizing setup and have stripped painted and anodized parts and re-anodized them and they actually look better than new.

Triple8, if you like the look of anodized aluminum, and you want to pay for it, go for it. It will look a hell of a lot better than Metal Cast bomb can.

BUT it must be an aluminum or titanium case, and I dont think your gonna buy a titanium case.
