Wink Aluminum Chieftec Dragon Case

I know you may have hear this time and time before but here it goes.

So I purchased my Aluminum Chieftec Dragon case for numerous reasons. It had plenty of room for expansion, fans, and aluminum dissipates heat faster and is lighter. Sadly time, my son, and trips to Lan parties have taken its toll on my case. After some minor modifications to the case, mainly adding a 120mm exhaust fan on the top and removing the stock fan grills I decided it is time to paint the case. I have worked with painting a older steel/plastic case but not Aluminum. I really would hate to spend a week + of work to have a paint job wipe off. Does any one have some advice for me on painting aluminum?

Look in the Pimprig Paintshop for Insomniacs guide on aluminum, and also the basic painting a computer case one.

If these don't help or you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Amen... Do plenty of research, plan it out, and above all, take your time... A rushed paint job will end up looking like carp (and I should know...)

If it's your main machine (or ONLY machine), get a cheapo case to transplant the system into while you do the painting (gonna hafta take everything out anyways, right?) Then, there's not the crunch of getting half done and having to put it back together in a rush to email out the bill payments or whatever... My $.02 worth...

painting aluminum will most likely eliminate any "cooling" effect you might get from it...

but i agree with most here, sand it down and use good quality paint, and be patient...

search the forums for tutorials on this, im sure there has to be one here somewhere...
