Custom Job - need help

Hi everyone. Im new here the site looked really nice so i decided to join up.

In any case, on to the questions

I wanna give my pc a new paint job. im thinking of paiting it a metalic white, with flames.

If you have a better sudgestion i would love to hear it. im not 100% on this project yet, and i want something that will look good

I did a crude sketch of my pc in paint. I have also included a few pics of the rig. Tell me what you think.

sounds cool, welcome to PR. You're going to want to clean up that top blowhole, maybe you can put a 120mm on there and cut a better hole. Also remember U channel works wonders.

as for 'metallic' white, do you mean pearlescent white? I've just never seen a metallic white before.

ooo the blow hole looks like my first try to do a chimney fan... Yea I'm still trying to fix that I think Im goin to put painted plexiglass over it...

I like the paint ideas though, would look sweet (i do like the blue though..)

heh ya I ment pearl white, anyway as for that blow hole.. Im gonna continue to round it off making it look someone respectable. lol that was the first mod i ever did. and it kinad went haywire. as for the front bezel im gonna buy a 120mm hole saw and stick in one of those turbines. I ordered one up from mnpctech.

Looks like i dont have many choices other than to cut a window into my top panel. Im thinking of getting soem UV molding but frozen cpu is the only place that seems to have it and they want $3.75/foot

i say red flames ontop of blue (something similar to waht you got) i would also consider revising you plans for teh front an top panel , but the sides look great

Hmm ya i was thinking that red/yellow flames are too comon.

I went into paint to try and edit the pic, but go figure the stupid jpeg made all those weird little dots everywhere so repainting wil ltake too long. I will tommorow.

I read all those articles before i posted the thread. they were very good.

I just did these 2 tonight. I just picked 2 random colors.

I think the black and silver flames is the best

I know my favorite color is blue and all...but the black is a much better contrast it makes the silver pop out in my opinion!

first things first....

flames are ok in my book, a little over used but good to do if you do it right. do your self a favor though, go out and get a few chopper or hot rod magazines and look at how they do flames. then practice drawing them first before you paint them up.

i would sugest a ghost flame effect would be the coolest. if you are going to do white metalic for the case, why not use a silver tinted pearl clear to do the flames with.

i havent decided if I wanna do it white. thats why im kinda asking you guys what looks good. also about the flames. I was sort of thinking that they are used too much. do you have any other sudgestions as to what i can put on?

also i dont know what a ghost flame effect is

ill run down to auto zone and see what they have for paint. I will also pick up a hot rod mag, or print a few pics of the net

Damn it. I cant seem to decide on a color scheme.

Im torn between the black/silver

but a part of me wants to do something more colorfull.

Red, and black are pretty sweet... hehheumm Greens are cool (think Mt. Dew can!) actually someone should do a mt. Dew can mod...
Blues are pretty sweet, yours is a nice blue reminds me of my dads Subaru WRX (o hells ya World Rally Championship fan right here!!!)

here is my case, no windows or blow holes (those im saving for my server case!)

burgundy metallic/silver
blue/orange
navy blue/silver
purple metallic/silver

red/black
blue/yellow

blue/pink

Either one of those designs I like gloss black most (even though its tough to acheive)...one tip is to get the Duplicolor Mirage Kit in ICE for your flames it looks really nice. It changes color depending on the light hitting it.

but thats ok, Ill go pick up some stencils from an art store. Im sure there must be one store that sells them right >

Im not really a fan of the ice pearl jobs tho. Ive seen them on cars and dont like them. pimprig has a guide to achiving that real nice glossy shine, ill just follow that and i cant go wrong

Now when i start painting, should i do the flames first or last? Im thinking first, but i donno much so..

also i dont really know how to blend colors to make them look gradienty.

Ill post lots of pictures of my progress, however i dont think ill start it for a few days.

FLAMES GO ON LAST.

They go on top of your base coat.

Clear goes over the base & flames together.
