| Well after all the thoughts I've finally decided on getting a airbrush. My sister convinced me to get one since she wants to use it too, so were going in 50/50 on the price. I don't want to spend more than $260 all together on the brush, compressor, tax (Ca), shipping, and needed accessories (a few colors of paint). Also she will be painting murals on peoples walls and canvas. I will be mostly painting on metals and plastics (computer cases mainly). So I would like something to suit our needs. I've been googling for places and the best seems to be airbrush depot. No has mentioned where to buy airbrushes in the forums but they recommended the Depot for paint. This is the kit I was looking at so far: http://www.airbrush-depot.com/script...pgm=vls20t.bbx | ||

| Go to www.harborfreight.com they carry Pasche and have the cheapest prices on compressors, as well as a bunch of other stuff. They have a $20 dual action Badger knock off that is actually pretty nice, you should get one as a pip-fart brush and one good one. | ||

Same here I would like to enhance my painting by adding shadows to the flames and other stuff you can't do with a rattle can. Also Luna I have a cheapy $5 harbor frieght brush right now and I paint a lil better then spray paint with it. But I'm looking for a better brush to learn lots of other things on, do you like the VLS from Paasche? Also do I need a tank for the compressor is it fine without one? What makes having a tank better? My sister is a professional artist (watercooler, pencil, murals, etc...) she wants one to learn to paint murals on peoples walls instead of hand painting them. Is this the brush you recommend from Harbor?http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=32371 Also I have no problem forking out the $$$ for a quality made product but I don't like paying to much either. Thanks for the help bro. EDIT: Which of these would you recommend or would something else be better? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=47407 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=90168 Last edited by SPECIALBLEND218; 16-August-04 at 04:03 PM..

| Well I wnet to some local shops after work. The first couple weren't very good. I saw a Paasche VL for $110 and walked out the door. Then went to Michaels and saw the Badger Anthem for $135 and left. Harbor Freight didn't have any Airbrushes. THen I went to our new on road rc car race track (I used to be very heavily in the scene). When I walked in the door I saw a fellow racer and he helped me and gave me a great deal. So I picked up the Badger Anthem aka 155 for $70 and he threw in a 10 ft hose and 2 bottles of Faskolor (purple pearl and black). Also is ther any tricks to this purple pearl or should I just spray it over a white base coat? | ||

| Well I went and tried the brush for the first time and it seems really nice and pretty easy to control. Also I tried it the purple pearl on a white base and a black base and you can't see it on black, but on the white yu can see the purple glare and it loks better as it dries. [Update] here is the finished case. It's not much but it is one of my work comuters so now it won't be so bad to look at. There are a couple of small blemishes, but no major ones so it was a success in my opinion.Last edited by SPECIALBLEND218; 17-August-04 at 02:30 AM.. | ||

| I am a big stressor in Quality tools. Its hard to practice and get it down right when your fighting the very tool thats supposed to be helping you. Of course I wouldn't give My taste to anyone, I think I owe my soul to the Snap-On, MAC tool guys, and to KC auto Paint. I would consider writing a article on airbrushing, but for one thing I hate to type, and I hate trying to teach in a non hands on enviroment. There are so many different variations in every application. I guess to relate to some of you...I am horrible with software and proggraming and such, now one of you programming pimps, teach me how in one article I don't know if thats a good analigy, but basically describe something your really good at, and been doing all your life in a 2 page article. What I can say is practice experiment, and when you have specific Questions, dont be afraid to ask. I dont know just my 2 cents | ||

I would be interested in reading that article myself. I am not very artistic when it comes to freehand art. but it seem like an airbrush could come in handy in many other ways. IE touchups, and such. I would like to see what other people are doing with it, before investing in such an expensive peace of equipment. Last edited by Rev. Don; 28-August-04 at 02:27 AM..
