Default Check This out....Sharpie Chrome..WOW

Someone in here was using silver Sharpies to "silverize" their mobo. Well I bought a few to experiment with and this is what I got.

I figured since the metallics were fine enough to capillary through the marker tip for writing then this stuff is probably similar to MirraChrome in composition,so.

I emptied one of them into and airbrush bottle by squeazing it out of the fiberish reservoir thingy in the marker. I was anxious to see what it would do so I just grabbed a can of butane sitting nearby and sprayed the side of it.

After I sprayed I let it dry for a few minutes then I buffed a portion on the bottom of the can with my shirt (anxious again). And woohoo this stuff polishes like mad. All I can say is "chrome in a pen" NICE. So heres a shot with a before and after buffing portion of the can. I put a swab in the shot so you can see the reflection. Sorry pic is a little blurry. Just try it yourself to see actual results.

How much area you estimate per pen?

If sprayed from an airbrush at the right pressure and fluid flow, putting a couple fine mist coats on, probably around a square foot with a brand new pen. It has to be cleared though it is not very durable at all.

I might do a guide on how to use it properly to get good results.

Maybe we can find bulk packs of these cheap.

EDIT: you can also do it strait out of the pen just marking, it looks pretty damn good too.

I would be careful buffing boards as it is easy to knock off small SMD components

Thought about doing that myself while coloring, although since I don't have spray gun no testing could be done.

Great discovery, didn't know that stuff could actually be buffed into a chrome look.

You dont have to spray it. You can buff it strait out of the pen with almost identical results.
