Default Paint Questions..

Hokay, I went out and got a can of Rust-hoe-leum "Paint for Plastic" (Product Info here) so I can go and spray down my front bezel on my chieftec dragon case...

So, to start:
-Do I need to sand down the bezel and get the rust red out of it?
-Am I going to need to put the paint thinner on it and wipe the crap off of it?

Hmm.. other'n that, I can't think of anythin' right now, so..

Thanks in advance,

I would sand it down, wipe with denatured alcohol, and lay down primer. Then sand again and paint.

Is it supposed to be like the Krylon fusion? I know with fusion you dont need to sand or use primer....at least that is what the directions said. I still cleaned with denatured alcohol though and was very pleased with the outcome.

sounds like fancy vynal dye, i would test it on somthing first without sanding and see if it chips off or anything.

After you sand plastic, the Fusion type paints dont bond right. You would have to sand, prime, paint, clear, polish. Those Fusion paints only bond good to the factory plastic because they rely on little tiny dimples in the plastic to bond to, after you sand or in your case painted it before, those dimples get filled in and the paint has nothing to bond to.

So what I would do is sand it down, from like 80 grit working to 400. After that put primer on it, make sure its the same brand as your basecoat and clear. Then put thin coats of color on it until covered then clear then sand the clear with 400 grit working up to 800-1000 and then get yourself some 3M paint polish and shiney that thing up.

Heres a link to the 3M polish, http://www21.3m.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.En...P=0&CACHE_ID=0

Also look in my gallery at my Black/Red case to see what kind of shine this method will achive

Hope that helps some.
