| Anyone have any ideas on how to apply UV reactive spray paint to a tempered glass surface? I'm not going to use any primer because it's going to be spraypainted from underneath and viewed from the top and because I don't want the paint on top where it could get damaged. Would a light sandpaper work in this type of situation? Or do you think that their is enough "rough" surface for the paint to grab onto if it's not going to be in contact with anything else. Thanks, Rob | ||

| I dont know if they make something like a Krylon Fusion UV reactive stuff. I have used Fusion on plastics, and it just plain rocks. Glass may be a different story though. If this is a glass that is sand blasted, you might have some luck, but otherwise, you will probably need to scuff it up somehow. Perhaps wetsand it to give a smooth, even finish. This definitely is a cool idea though. A glowing desk would be awesome. | ||

All you can do is to test it out on a smaller piece. After the UV reactive coat you might want to put a coat of white. it will bring out the UV better.

I'll back Sir Carrot on Tide- reason you better not wash your hunting clothes with it - deer especially see you a mile away because their visual range detects it vibrantly. Who woulda thunk hunting knowledge could apply to computer modding eh?

| From what I've managed to find out, temeperd glass (for home use...i.e., showers, patio doors, etc.) by law are required to have the sheet of special plastic through it's core to prevent it from shattering into a million pieces, much like the windshield of a car. As we all know, a windshield blocks quite a bit of UV light so I'm going to have to go at this from the top to see it properly. I don't know about sand blasting the top of the tempered glass, but I'm going to give it a shot on some spare glass I have laying around. Once that's done, I'll have to spray paint it with the UV paint, but I don't know if I should apply a laquer over the top of it. I thought that might take some of the reactive out of the paint. Finally, I may simply use a flourecent masking tape on the top of the glass. Cheap, easy to damage and remove, and probably as pimp as taking your girlfriend to see dinner and "Deliverence". This would be used as a last result. I'm willing to ruin the glass top first before I use the tape. I'll let you know how it turns out. Edit: After some more research, I'm just going to get a glass etching pen and do it myself. I'll then mask it off and fill it in with UV paint. Last edited by mtmanrob; 29-May-04 at 05:41 PM.. | ||
