| im assuming you dont have much experience with traditional paints and drawing (correct me if im wrong please). as with any artistic tool, they require practice and perseverance, so dont expect to get a good finish the 1st time you try, or the next 10 times. read up on techniques, take a class, whatever. (its easier if youre good in other mediums, but its a different tool so you still have to learn how to use it) to answer your first question, paasche makes very good airbrushes. a good site to purchase them is MisterArt. here are some brushes | ||

Paasche VL, no comparison foe the price. You can get the kit for around $60. Next would be an Iwata Eclipse, more expensive but well worth it. check here http://www.airbrush-depot.com EDIT: If you need a small compressor I have one I will sell ya cheap

| I used to love my Badger 150 but I switched from lacquer to water based and the old 150 didnt like it. I use an Iwata Eclipse bottom feed right now and its pretty sweet. I wish I would have purchased the gravity feed but then I would have liked the other bottom feed better. I think I need both! | ||

Yea,thats an OK price but I personally think you should spend $5-$10 extra and get it from a retailer so you dont have to put up with Ebays crap

| Alrighty, im almost set to start brushing stuff ![]() But I have a few more questions, first off I need paint. What paints are good, useable with an airbrush. I will be painting metal, i dont know if this matters. Secondly, how do I go about prepping the surface? Normal primer? Thanks ADD :: Noone told me how hard it would be to get that look in that pic, or in luna's sig. Im asking more how to do it then how hard. Would I use a stencil or the brush? | I used normal primer for metal make sure the surface is very smooth you dont want to restart its a pain in the a** I usual start off by drawing the image on the case with a black pencil then i paint as i go along it depends on the person and the time you got to do it in After you have added the paint go over any errors you did if your doing a image with high detail (faces, landscapes, etc) fill in the areas with pencil, marker whatever does the job so it can look killer. You must also airbrush inside a place where their isnt any wind you dont want to make a boo boo When all your painting is done add some clear coat so it can look like a new car shine Hope i helped | ||

| If it is bare metal just put a coat of primer on it first and then use any kind of paint you want. You can use just about anything on bare metal also just as long as it is free of oily substances. Createx and Parma paints are good for airbrushing and can be used on anything. Just thin them down a little with water. Both brand I mentioned are the same thing only they sell more colors under the Parma name, they even have chameleon and metallic colors. | ||

| Those will both work however that Testors Model paint is uber thick. You just need to thin them out to the consistency of milk. Testors has good gloss for sign work but you might have to clear coat anything water based to get some gloss and to protect it from the elements. | ||

Yea, Testors will work fine but needs to be thinned. Usually places that sell Testors model paints also sell a large bottle of airbrush thinner formulated for their paints.Laquer thinner will work also but will cause it to dry a lot faster and if you use too much air pressure it will "cobweb", it will dry in the air and make streams of tiny threads that look like colored cobwebs.

| KK, well, i tried painting something. The thing wont suck up the paint? Am I doin something wrong? I attached the hose, put the color thing on, pushed down on the lever and pulled back and nada. I was just using water to test it out and it doesnt work?!? The little thing where you put the paint doesnt even feel like its sucking? Any ideas? | ||

| Does the needle move in and out of the nozzle when you pull back on the trigger? And about that sample image you have, it would be difficult for me since I suck at the hand painting part of that but I could do the airbrush work. It depends on your particular talents and abitlities. Luna could probably whip something out like that in less than 20 minutes. | ||
