| Im looking to give my case a nice chameloen paint job. Ive painted a few solid colors before.Trying to keep this fairly cheap though. Thinking about buying an airbrush though wondering if you guys have any suggestions on that too. Also what colors blend well with a chamelon paint job. Im trying to go with like a volcano theme on the case(red tubing, orange and yellow CC'c) thanks for your help | ||

| Your cheapest bet is to use the Mirage by Dupli-Color,it is actually some pretty good stuff and turns out pretty nice. If you were to buy the chameleon midcoat seperate to spray through an air gun of some sort it will run you approx $20 an ounce. You would need about 4 to 8 ounces depending on what you were spraying it with along with a reducer (thinner) intended for it. Heres a few tips: Do not spray the midcoat through a small artist type airbrush if you are painting the whole case, it will be blotchy and the effect will be uneven. If you do want to buy the midcoat seperate also buy a cheap spray gun if you have a compressor.Lowes has an OK touch up type spray gun for $30 they also have a better one made by Ingersol Rand that is gravity fed and HVLP that is $50.If you have a Menards in your area they have the same thing, just branded differently for $25. Edit: As for an airbrush, the best possible for the money is a Paasche HVL,they run about $60 . They are used by many many professionals.I have 2 of them.I have owned many airbrushes including Iwatas, and the Paasche has been the best as far as versatility and reliability, although the Iwatas are more precise. | ||

Actually I think its the other way aroung, I think the IR is just a re-branded one of the cheaper ones. They are identical except the IR is black and the other is blue.It is branded as Tool Shop.I have one I use for small stuff that require only about a half pint of paint. It actually sprays good.I have a Sata Emerald Jet NR2000 a Sata 90 and a Devilbiss GTI that I mainly use. The main bag with cheap guns is they are hard to get replacement parts for, initially they spray very good untill the needle and nozzle wears out.But this one from Tool Shop has a plus, it comes with a spare needle!!. I dont think you can buy from Menards online, but you may try www.harbourfreight.com they have some decent stuff really cheap. If you buy a gun,you may already know this but, try to get a gravity fed HVLP as they require much less pressure to get the same volume of air, cutting back on overspray and using less paint as more is going on the piece rather than in the air. Most gravity fed HVLPs use 10 lbs. at the nozzle and most conventional siphon fed guns will need 30-40.They save your compressor in the long run also. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
