Default Prep work for powder

I've cut the side panels of my old Antec case to make a nice radiator shroud and it's all getting powdercoated. My question is this...what do I need to do in the way of sanding and stuff before taking it to the paint shop? I know they do a burn-off, so is there any reason to sand the beige crap down, or will that just be redundant?

You shouldnt have to sand it at all, although if you did strip it they would not need to do the burn off if you are worried at all about it getting warped as it may since it is thin sheet metal.

I can't say for sure, but I know with chrome plating, the less labor they have to do to get the part ready for plating, the cheaper the price.

Why don't you just give them a call and ask?

OH, we will be getting some powder coating equipment in the next couple of weeks.

Our oven will be big enough to do a midtower case or larger cases/items if they can be disassembled.

We will have a myriad of colors available including Chamelon

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by "burn off" but the place my buddy works in the summer they dunk the stuff in a tank of phosphorus (I dunno, that could be way off) and it just basically removes any oils and stuff, not paint or anything. So I would prolly said sand it down smooth.

Burn Off, is where they put a part that already has some sort of finish on it like paint or previous powder in a high temp oven in order to"Burn Off" the existing finish so they have a bare metal part as the whole piece has to be metal,or at least where you want the coating to be cus it is an electrostatic application and paint will not allow the powder to attract when sprayed.
