Well I'm thinking if you sand it ...it will vanish...Ya Think?...
You might also just ask your printer what is best...
He should know his products.
There are both kinds of "decal" ones you can clear over,
and the ones, if you put any finish on they will run and hide and desolve and look like you barfed on the case...Your call...

Is it a water-slide decal? If so then you must clear the decal before putting on the case or the inks will be washed away when you put it in the water.

I know it's been a while Bro...
but, are there other kinds of decals besides water-slide?
assuming we are speaking of the kind you soften in water, position, then slide the backing, from under the decal...like on the old car models we all built as kids..
Have I missed a new decal technology? man I must be getting old... Decals used to be the shizzle...

To my personal belief NO, but people do tend to call just about anything that resembles a sticker of some sort a "decal".Just making sure he wasnt talking of a self adhesive "sticker".
Most printing places call these decals, and I have never heard of any who do water-slide decals.

I am with you on that one, the only thing I would consider to be a decal is the water slide type like you get with model cars.

Right on then...we are on the same page..
.I remember way back, the thrush road runner head
with the cigar in his mouth..
.The shop I was working at, sweepin and picking up the parking lot after school,
got a huge one for the window.
My boss said to take it home and put it on my window, he didn't have room for it...
.I was so happy I was gonna be the envy of the hood...
I must have soaked that thing for an hour to get it all loose from the paper...I put it on the folks' sliding glass door, big bubbles and all. I was the sh!t till they came home from work themselves...and comenced to kick my dumb ass... that had to be the biggest "decal" I ever seen..It was cool for a minute...

Man,I still have one of those on the quarter window of my 71 Cutlass.Doesnt have Thrush mufflers though and I dont think it ever did. Its a sticker though and it does still have the cigar. Its faded like a mofo and pretty much has no color.I think they took the cigar out when all the frenzy about advertising tobacco was going on.

Actually there are die cut decals that can be cleared over with a fast drying clear (such as Morton's). I have a signs and graphics business and have done die cuts for companies that have cleared them over. This is common place for street bikes and off the shelf helmets. My business consists mostly of vinyl (both printed and water based airbrushed), but every now and then I do some painting.
