| On BZA's latest Antec case, I scuffed it with some cleaner (ie, 409) for five minutes or so. You really want to clean and scuff the he!! out of the plastic for some mechanical adhesion, a gray 'scotch brite pad' works great. Wipe the plastic down with a 'prep solvent ( wax and grease remover), DO NOT USE LACQUER THINNER. I do use a plastic adhesion promoter, just for extra insurance, if you do alot of painting on an area, you don't want it do blow off when a gust of wind comes along. But between you and I if you clean and scuff it well, the paint will stick very well.
Mist was right, I do explain it more in depth in those how to's.
Paint will look great and have few problems if you just clean, clean, clean and clean the surface, sand or scuff it for mechanical adhesion and build the paint up gradually. Don't "hog" it on, you will just have all kinds of problems, from solvent popping, poor paint adhesion and moldeling, to stuff that makes you just throw stuff away and start again from scratch..... been there...many times |
