Ive actually been working on painting my DVD drive and the screws were stripped so ive been workin on painting it without taking it apart. The main thing you gotta worry about is covering the small holes and to cover the connections in the back. Also I might suggest taping off the clear part where the LED shines through in the front. Im not too concerned about mine because im going to be stealthing my drive. Ill upload some pictures here soon and hopefully it will help. Step One: Find a shoe box like the one I found in my gf's closet. and cut out a 1 inch by 5 inch rectangle. ![]() You should end up with something like this: ![]() Bend the rectangle hotdog ways and and insert it into the dvd drive like below: ![]() and ![]() Step Two: rip off the ends of a plasstic fork and stick them into the mounting holes on the side. ![]() Step Three: Get ready for sanding and painting ![]() And thats the McGyver way to paint an optical drive. | Put 3m Blue Painters tape over anything you don't want to pint, like the circuit board and connectors that may be expossed. Also, on HDD there is a tiny hole that usually has a sticker that says "Do Not Cover", make sure you do NOT get paint in that hole or seal it up. | ||
